/sigh.  Since I'm stuck sitting on my butt dealing with my broken body (*specifically right arm, and more specifically radius bone at this point) I've decided to start going through the WR and making modifications that I know will count in the near enough future.

One armed as I am right now, I still persevered to strip the forks and shock off the R2.  They were woefully underdamped to the point that the rear shock, out of its 20 click settings resulted in two useable positions.  The forks, while better than the shock, dove heavily under breaking and the steering was downright twitchy at speed.

I've boxed them up for a full rebuild at Go-Race.  It will be a few weeks before I have them back but then again, I'm not exactly going anywhere.

Suspension, to me, pretty much makes or breaks the bike experience.  It's all about being in control...I can't wait to ride again.

Your riding *is* fully suspended, what're you bitching about?   Headscratch

He's not going to tell you yet.  You'll just have to wait.

Robert, let us know if you can feel a difference (if you are allowed to ride that much).

Looks like the total is about $350 for all the work (both front forks are done for the $175 I guess?)

I reckon my google-fu is better than Kevin's.

Don't count on it.  I have skills.

A Services page where they charge the same thing for a "service" as a "rebuild" raises my eyebrows.  I've never heard of these guys before - which means nothing if they specialize in dirt bikes, but they say they do sport bikes too.  I'm curious who they are and how Robert got hooked up with them.

I think its kinda sad that even us old timer STNers can't take some good natured ribbing.

Oh, and I wondered the same, is "rebuild" a full setup, and what parts are included?

"Go-Race" is a known dirt suspension specialist company that heavily supports the local Virginia racing circuit.  Excellent reputation by a number of big ADV names (Krabill, etc.).

Miles is right:  The labor cost is $175 per end...that does not include parts.  The WR250R shock is a non-rebuildable shock - so the first thing he does is pulls the top off and sticks in a KYB top end to make it rebuildable.  Then it's a replacement of the piston and valves plus seals and then a bit of a "port and flow" job to take any edges out of the shock.  Expected total cost for the "WR Treatment" is $375.  The spring can be changed but it's suited to a 210# rider - I'm leaving that just as it is.

The forks are the same:  Labors a little cheaper but the internal components suck.  Valves are changed, everything is polished and flowed, seals are replaced, etc.  I think the forks will total out at $350.

All I can remember was that the full total was just under $800 with shipping.  Not cheap, but not ohlins either.

The other name I've seen is "Fastbikeindustries" - WR board ranks them well, but I'm not familiar with them.  They are quite a bit cheaper on the outside, but they too charge a flat labor rate plus parts...I'd bet it's about the same cost overall.

Kevin, as to why "Go-Race" over "Race-tech"?  Well, I think we all know that answer in our group!   Lol

Kevin's ribs are in about as good a shape as mine.  A good "Ribbing" seems to take on a different story out here!   Bigsmile
