So Honda has decided that noses on sportbikes are just totally unnecessary now?

I thought you rode a sport bike by the feel and RPM, not what gear its in? I have never understood the need for a gear indicator.

The guys who race and do trackdays put them on, so they must be usefull. I haven't done either, but I sure like the gear indicator on my bike.

Once you ride a bike with a gear indicator, you will never want to go back to not having one.
I like the look of the new CBR1000RR

It is a very nice looking moto.
I especially like Honda sport bikes in their version of tri-colore. Red white and blue.
I was amused by visor down's comments that it will not have fancy electronics to keep the price down. I'm betting not to the consumer....

I like where the oil filter is - would make for some easy maintenance
Doesn't look like you even need to pull plastics. (Unlike my plastic encased flying pig that takes half an hour just to get the plastics off to change a filter
)

I hated the way the old CBR1000RR looked. It was the ugliest liter bike around in my opinion. Not necessarily ugly, just not pretty compared to others. I ride an 1125R too so that's saying a lot!
This one I do like!
If it's comfortable enough, I may get one next year.

I hated the way the old CBR1000RR looked.
I'm with you, I think it was the worst itinereation of the CBR series since it first appeared in 1993. It may have been the best version, but it was so anonymous looking. I also hated the instrumentation on that one.
Now this one, dang! I dug the original CBr900RR with the tri-colore paint job, and it looks sweet on this version.
The only problem is that as all its competitors have or will have traction control etc, if the Honda does not have it it has to underprice them. But I doubt they are going to do that. And with the last models we (in the US) got the lame paint jobs while other countries got sweet ones.

Believe it or not, this was the deciding factor in my getting the ZX14 vs. the busa. I've whittled down my oil change time to about 5 minutes. Goes a long way when ya change it every 1K miles

I believe it .. and every 1k miles? wth do you change your oil that frequently? Heck, I'll take your used oil and put another 3-4k on it

I'm sure the lack of horsepower relative to some of the other literbikes and also the lack of TC are going to translate into great sales numbers for Honda.
