So Honda has decided that noses on sportbikes are just totally unnecessary now?  Smile

I thought you rode a sport bike by the feel and RPM, not what gear its in? I have never understood the need for a gear indicator.

The guys who race and do trackdays put them on, so they must be usefull.  I haven't done either, but I sure like the gear indicator on my bike.

Once you ride a bike with a gear indicator, you will never want to go back to not having one.

I like the look of the new CBR1000RR

It is a very nice looking moto.
I especially like Honda sport bikes in their version of tri-colore.  Red white and blue.

I was amused by visor down's comments that it will not have fancy electronics to keep the price down.  I'm betting not to the consumer....

I like where the oil filter is - would make for some easy maintenance  Thumbsup Doesn't look like you even need to pull plastics. (Unlike my plastic encased flying pig that takes half an hour just to get the plastics off to change a filter Sad)

I hated the way the old CBR1000RR looked.  It was the ugliest liter bike around in my opinion.  Not necessarily ugly, just not pretty compared to others.  I ride an 1125R too so that's saying a lot!   Lol   Razz

This one I do like!   Thumbsup

If it's comfortable enough, I may get one next year.

I hated the way the old CBR1000RR looked.

I'm with you, I think it was the worst itinereation of the CBR series since it first appeared in 1993.  It may have been the best version, but it was so anonymous looking.  I also hated the instrumentation on that one.

Now this one, dang!  I dug the original CBr900RR with the tri-colore paint job, and it looks sweet on this version.

The only problem is that as all its competitors have or will have traction control etc, if the Honda does not have it it has to underprice them.  But I doubt they are going to do that.  And with the last models we (in the US) got the lame paint jobs while other countries got sweet ones.

Believe it or not, this was the deciding factor in my getting the ZX14 vs. the busa. I've whittled down my oil change time to about 5 minutes. Goes a long way when ya change it every 1K miles  Lol

I'm sure the lack of horsepower relative to some of the other literbikes and also the lack of TC are going to translate into great sales numbers for Honda.

It's up $400 compared to the 2011 price.  BNG are expensive.

That's real slick looking. I like it. Much better looking than that nasty VFR1200 fail.

First off, I really like the way this bike looks in the white w/ red and blue graphics.
Honda has 'fixed' the things that turned me off the previous version - namely the extremely dull styling and the bland instrumentation.

As a street bike, the Honda arguably had/has the best combo of handling and mid range power.  Now they've improved the suspension, fixed the styling a bit, and , well, that's it.

The huge problem is that Honda acts like they are in a vaccum, the only option out there.  They call this bike "All New" when it clearly is not, and yet ignores what their opposition offers.  But they did increase the price by $400.

I really like this bike.  But Honda needs to have reasons why one should buy it over its amazing competition.

Looks better than the '08-'11 version, but still ugly compared to the earlier ones.  Maybe I'm just getting old but the bikes seem to be getting uglier.

Saw my first VFR1200 in person on Friday at the dealership and it was worse than the pictures.

The paint on this one impressed me though - reminds me of the Ricky Graham, Bubba Shobert flat-track bikes from the 80's...

Yup, do you remember how everyone was blown away when the CBR900RR came out in 1992?  And that bike looked so so sweet..

Time to do that again.  Is once every 20 years too much to ask?
