can radar detector be adapted to bluetooth?

im in the market for a radar detector for my bike and looking at what my choices are for audio or visual alerts. i like the h.a.r.d. idea but dont like the thought of shoving things in my helmet with my head.  would it be possible to use a bluetooth adapter  plugged into the 3.5 earphone outlet  to connect to my cardo  bluetooth headset?  any other ideas ? thanks for the help.

You would need an A2DP adapter and a G4 Scala. The older Scala's do not connect to A2DP bluetooth.

You would have to review the priorities the Scala uses.  If it connects with a lower priority than your other sources (GPS, Phone, etc.), it may not signal.

This jack looks like its stereo, my Escort requires a mono plug.  I think RadioShack has stereo to mono adaptors.
I've been thinking of using a jack (like the one mentioned in the quote) plugged into my MixIt 2 and a "dongle" on the end of my Westone ear plug/speakers.   Would this work?  TIA  Ian, Iowa

I think the yet to be released Sena SMH10 will have an input for a radar detector.

I use a J&M bluetooth dongle for my Sat. Radio and Passport radar detector.The J&M unit also has a built-in power supply plug for the Radar Detector that allowed me to eliminate the original power adapter.
The J&M unit was pricey (I paid $250.00 two and a half years ago they're now $300.00)but it works great, the Radar Detector overides every thing and I get great sounding music thru my Scala G4.

I was trying to put together a similar setup a while back and came across this.  I'm not sure if this can be paired directly with the G4?   I guess you could pair it with your phone, then connect to your phone with the G4?  The G4 does have a audio input, but that involves cables.   Hmmm.

This info doesn't answer your question, but it relates to it and something I've discovered recently... from another thread on here!

Rather then bluetooth, I'm putting things together to work with FM radio. It's been working out good so far, and pretty cheap too.

Already have a Sansa Clip MP3 player, that can receive FM radio signal. And S-Plug in ear speakers (which work great btw). My Nuvi GPS can broadcast on FM (and play MP3 at same time, it gives priority to Directions - mutes the music).

My Radar Detector has a 2.5mm plug for speaker, and one can get (pretty cheaply too - around 20 bucks) a 3.5mm inline FM broadcaster!

So the idea will be to just have the radar detector volume louder then the GPS, and then no reason to be tethered to the bike! yay!

Thus no huge expense for a Mix-It2, or amplirider (that doesn't have priority switch), etc.

Hey just an alternative is all... good to have choices sorry for the hijack...

HAve you looked at Sena SR10 that just recently was released. Plug radar into it and it send the signal via BT to Sena SMH10.

I was looking at the J&M dongles the other day.  How does it handle multiple signals simultaneously?  As an example, what happens when you are in intocom mode with a passenger or other rider and you get a radar alert or GPS prompt?  Is there any priority over ride?  Do you have to re-establish the bluetooth link with the other headset after each time you get an external signal from the radra or GPS?

I heard this may be the case with the Sena headsets and Sena SR10 dongle.

90% of the time I'm just using The Sat.Radio and Radar Detector, on rare occasions I"ll pair the cell phone in too. I've had a few times where the cell phone drops it Bluetooth signal but not that often.
I can't answer your question on the intercom because I very rarely use it. (wife doesn't ride much) Hope this helps.
