considering buying this 1999 bandit; what do you think?

Considering buying this, at least going to look at it if it's still for sale when I get back in town.
So I know it's overpriced, I'm just curious on how overpriced YOU think it is.
It goes have some nice "LIVI" luggage. While not mentioned in ad, clearly has some bar-risers, which I like.

1999 Suzuki 1200 Black in color. This is a fl size motorcycle with lots of extras. It has 3 LIVI Hardshell saddle bags With key locks, after market exhaust, almost brand new tires. The bike runs great just don't have the time to ride it any longer. If interested call me at
1-253-217-6286. Not interested in trading only selling it.

I wouldn't go any higher than $2500. Offer $2250 cash, and see what happens.

How many miles? Check it over real good...but they are a very good platform to work with.. I agree with the $2500 if it under 25000 miles.

What he said. GREAT, simple, easy to work with machines. Stone reliable.

Having owned one 99 and comparing to the 2nd gen.
You can find a 2nd gen for the same money. If you plan to do some touring go for the 2nd gen. 1st gen is more of a power torque monster with a bit less range.
it will need to be gassed 150 miles [i went to reserve at 130 with a jetkit /pipe - avg from comparing with 4 of my friends who had/have 1st gen] . 2nd gen easily will go 180-200 before hitting reserve.also it was much smoother.I think suzuki tamed the 99 engine a bit for then 2001+ engines for touring. Better mpg ,throatle posistion sensor and smoothness.also the fairing was a bit further so wind protection was alot better then the first gen.also a busa shock will dropinto a 2nd gen giving you a instant upgrade with some progressive springs. By the age you need to upgrade shocks and i am sure for the first gen you are looking atleast 700 for a progressive atleast. 1st gen shocks were horribly soft.
I loved mine and put 40k on it.they are bullet proof and i got a 1st gen Fz1 now as it reminded me of the 1st gen bandit.

What size is "fl size"? Cause I wouldn't settle for anything less than "ffl" size, personally.

Those bars are definitely not stock - they almost look like ape hangers! I have the same bike with 53k miles (original owner) - it simply will never die.
Can't go wrong with a Bandit 1200 if you want a big torquey bike that can do everything. I think it's one of the best deals around - sickens me to know mine isn't worth much.

I put 140000+ km's on a 96B12. I found it to be much smoother than the 2nd gen's 2 of my buddies had. Definitely more power and more response to tweaking than the gen 2. Have a 2007 B1250 now with 90000km's. Both bikes are pretty much bulletproof.

. . . sorry it took me so long to get back to my own thread.
Yeah I had been really focusing my search for a Strom but the Bandits/'05 or < FZ1s / ZZR i've been considering as well.
I think i wouldln't be as happy with this bandit as I would be with a 3rd generation one though.
Kinda also would prefer some fuel injection.
Going to try and attempt the low-ball. I think this works best in-person also. You can't email someone and offer half the asking price, but if you show up with cash I think he'd be more likely to take 1,900
