I'm planning out a 3 day trip in October. Can anyone recommend a motorcycle friendly hotel in Helen? Thanks in advance.

Rue & I stayed at the Riverbend Motel & Cabins in May '09; place had been nicely refurbished.

Wow. Not even Oktoberfest and still a little pricey. Hmmm.

1. It's a tourist town
2. you may be looking at peak leaf viewing times when rates go up.

The MSTA has a rally there every spring, the Quality Inn is where we stay, nothing special, just a decent group rate.

Having a place with everything within walking distance is good but Helen is a tourist location therefore pricey.
A half hour ride away are lots of areas. Lots of empty cabins on and around Blood Mountain and Wolf Pen Gap.

Two local forums:
blokessportbike.com
georgiasportbike.com

Don't let the sportbike part fool ya - we ride everything.

Life free and ride hard because you never know when you'll be called up for that final ride. Go out doing what you love.

That's a pretty good idea. I can save about $100 by staying a short way out. Looks like the road to Blood Mountain is pretty nice.

Personally I don't think Helen is really all that appealing. I guess if you really, really like tourist kitsch.... Or absolutely have to have booze (there aren't many wet towns in that region of Georgia).

You might have have better luck looking for a cabin somewhere else. Like the area around Blue Ridge or Hiawassee. You'd be surprised how affordable the cabins can be...

Well, I really like the scenery up and around Helen. But I'm thinking now of just stopping through and staying at the Blood Mountain place Ga-bandit mentioned. The cabins are pretty affordable.

I stayed at the Days Inn two weeks ago, got a huge suite for 69.95 for one night.

Call Rhonda Coleman (she gave me her business card in case other people wanted to come up) 706 878 4079

this is located on main street, and a short walk to downtown

I'll give that a glance, but if their rates are anything like they're stated on their site...  Crazy

Thanks.

also, try Vogel State Park or Unicoi State Park. We usually camp, but I think they both have cabins

I think I got a deal because it was a Saturday night and she said she wanted to fill up the place and didn't want me to go somewhere else
