I picked up the tie downs, a bike cover, nut and bolt kit and a cig lighter plug kit. Not a bad haul for $80!

Last time I used ratchet straps was to haul tires to the local shop for mounting.  Working where I do, I have several sets just in case.

I might have to check into these. I have a couple ROK straps, they're great when lashed down, but a PITA IMO.

I usually carry a few of those Harborfreight yellow cam-lock straps. They're not ratcheting, but they are strong and hold pretty tight.
I think you can get a pack of 3-10 footers for about 3 bucks. I cut them down to lengths I need and mark them with a sharpie for what
they are for. (IE, Duffel, sleeping bag, 12 pack etc. etc.)

These are more heavy duty than the clearance bin straps at the Do It Best hardware store.  Haven't used them yet, but they look good and because they are used with the short soft straps, they are more appropriate in length.

Cycle Gear also has a very nice handlebar harness on sale for half price at $15.

If you prefer ratchets they have that version for $20.

I bought one of these today.  It is an extremely well-built version of the original Canyon Dancer.  It has heavy straps with built in carabiner snaps at each end to attach to tiedown points.  The cam buckles are oriented the right way, so that when you are sitting on the bike you can pull UP to tighten them, and there are finger loops stitched into the strap ends.  There is a heavy microfiber/terry sleeve where the straps cross the steering head of the bike.  Very well executed implementation of the design.

HOWEVER - there's a reason why there's a Canyon Dancer 2 (and Cycle Cynch) out.  This design pulls the bar sleeves inward, and puts tension on the throttle sleeve and switch gear on some bikes.  It has been known to screw up switches and throttles.  I had an original CD that I used with three bikes with no problems - the fourth it didn't get along with at all.  Has to do with the bar angles, tension, etc.

I went ahead and got these, because for me they will probably work fine - I use a Baxley chock as primary support for my bike when transporting, so the harness is basically just preventing the whole shooting match from tipping over.  For the same reason I got the camlock version instead of the ratchets.  Be advised if you aren't accustomed to using the original Canyon Dancers.

I stopped at the local Cycle Gear (Alison Park, PA) and they didn't have any in stock. They checked and said it appeared that many east coast stores don't have them in stock either. I will order a set online as it seems to be a good deal. I just got my trailer/hitch/wiring all working and could use some tie-downs for schleping the dirt bike around.

They work fine.  THick, strong, better than what I had.  Good use of $20

Got mine.  Straps better than average I would say.  Much better than the cheap ones a lot of hardware stores sell.

I also had just bought some at Walmart.  They were expensive but are some of the easiest ratchets I have ever used.  Big strength too.

Sometimes you need to buy more straps when you drive away with the loose straps still sitting on the trailer.
