Why did my brand new Shinko 009 Raven have 'Made in Korea' branded on it in so many places if they are made in China?

(as an aside, I'm getting through the break in, and they aren't as confidence inspiring as some... but I expect much longer tread life. Havent' slipped or anything, just haven't felt quite as sticky. Not a biggie though, I wasn't expecting a gumball for $99 delivered.)

They are Korean made tires. Supposedly they bought out a Yokohama rubber factory and all the equipment and are producing them in South Korea.

Why there are so many failures with these, I'll never know. There's been a 7% failure rate on the Shinko 757 front tires. That's too high for me.
I was talking to a coffee-stop local guy who rides a PC800 and had a rear Shinko blow out on him @ 5 or 6 thousand miles.

Massive tread separation for me @ 3,000 miles.

So that's two tire companies off my list.

1. Michelin   (just a spiteful boycott for discontinuing the finest touring perofrmance tire ever, the Pilot GT)
2 Shinko for simply their crap bike rubber.  I have to say however Shinko's customer service was very responsive in this matter for me, I had a new replacement set of Metzlers in 3 weeks.

So guys, here is a follow up on my opinion of Conti Motions. I've got around 700 miles or so on them and these tires are pretty nice IMHO. Rode 'em in the wet in the mountains, backroads, highways, etc. They have a nice and easy, but predictable turn in. They seem to absorb smaller bumps and road imperfections pretty well. The only down is they are a little "skatey" when cold, but what tire isn't. I don't really hammer on my bike at all, but move along at an ok pace (IMHO) and these tires seem to be a good choice for me. I'm not sure how long they'll last, we'll see....

The rear on my C14 lasted 3,250 miles and the last 400 was at a slow pace to make it home from NY to Savannah GA.  I have a PR3 on the rear now
