Anybody ever stretch a pair of new boots?
«

My Sidi Strada Air Evo boots arrived today and I was SO excited to try them on! Unfortunately, my pinky toe is squeezed.
I talked to the guy at MotorcycleGear.com and he said Sidi often fits like a C width, whereas my old A-stars are more like D. Ugh... you'd think they'd mention this!
He said that some people stretch their boots to fit better. Have you ever done this? I'd rather keep them than return them (which will cost me $9 for the return shipping), because they seem to be great boots and they're out of any other sizes anyway.
What do you think?

I think that all Sidi boots run narrow and most AlpineStar boots run wide; and that you should buy boots that fit.

Girl at my office just did this with a pair of cowboy boots to good result. Local cobbler might be able to do it for you.

The main problem you will face is they will return to the original size when not on your feet. You are much better off returning them and finding a brand that fits from the get go. Another thought, our feet tend to swell when riding. So if you start out hurting they will only get worse.

Seen it done once.
Buy a new pair of boots. Put on your socks, put on your boots and walk into the pool. Now you have to wear them unto dry. Takes about 2 days. Supposed to make them fit like a glove forever. Works on cowboy boots, rider boots, I have no idea.
Alternative 1. Get some shoe trees, real tight. Now spray the boots with a plant mister unitl fairly wet and let dry. Supposed to stretch them a little.
Or just send them back and get next larger size.

Stretching is easy to do with leather boots, but many are now made with various fake leathers that wear well but do not stretch.

Sidi boots are Lorica, a synthetic leather.

+1 - return them and get the right size. You will never be happy with them.

Lorica ain't going to stretch out, unlike natural leather. Sorry.

+1 I ordered a set of S-races and I got them yesterday and they squeezed my pinky. Not as wide as I thought. After much research, Lorica does not stretch, and you would be best returning them for a larger size. I saw a couple threads where there was a rumor that with heat, Lorica could be stretched, but there wasn't enough evidence to make this endeavor worthwhile on a new set of boots.
