Hello all,

New to the forum. Does anyone know whether there's a North American equivalent for the Datatool Snitcher which is made in the U.K.?
http://www.datatool.co.uk/snitcher/index.html

The Datatool actually sends you a text message to your cell phone, tells you if the battery is running low, etc. You can also remotely set off the alarm.

I'm getting a sport touring bike next spring and, funnily enough, the best bike for me (petite gal) is a beemer (F800ST) since it's light enough and can be lowered enough. So for a long trip, I want to ensure as much security as I can. Do people even want to steal BMW bikes? Or is that a stupid question? I've read some threads on here re: security and covers while on trips. Most locks of choice seem to be the ones that only sound an alarm.

Many thanks in advance.

Beemers are too nerdy to be on the hot list for theft. Not "universal" enough, like the typical Japanese made bikes.

Fantastic! Don't care about being nerdy if the bike is the best fit for me and no one wants it. Smile

Not so sure about an equivalent for exactly what you're after... BUT, I've run a Scorpio 2-way alarm on my CBR600RR for the last 5 years and it's been a lifesaver.  (Those are pretty hot bikes to steal btw.)

Like pointed out already, not so sure how theft-worthy your bike is, especially since it's a little heavier than a supersport and can't be simply tossed in the back of a truck as easily.

With that said, my Scorpio is awesome.  It's a 2-way alarm so the unit on the bike communicates with the key fob.  When the alarm is triggered, it also sets off an alarm on the key fob (which you can set on your bed-side table at night).  It also has the option to sound a "silent alarm" where the key fob goes off but the alarm on the bike doesn't.  You can also fire off the "panic" mode to sound the alarm at any time.

Great alarm.  It's saved my bike from 3 legitimate theft attempts in the last 5 years.

Another valuable theft deterrent in my experience has been a heavy motorcycle chain.  In my case, a Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit chain.
