Just playing with this and I think it's pretty cool. Each of these links should lead to a street-view of the first day of a ride I have planned for next week. If it works, use your arrow keys to look left and right or move forward or backward in street-view. For California locals maybe you can make a game of calling the the road, before you click the zoom out - upper left to go back map view and zoom out further  to see where in the world you are...

I spy Hwy 1 in the south part of Big Sur and Hwy 229. Judging by the rest, you will be lucky to finish the trip on that brand new rear tire.  Lol

Yeah, the first day is probably the most ambitious single day I've ever undertaken at about 500 miles of mostly backroads, the rest will be more in my comfort zone of 350-400. Just wanted to give my friend from Georgia, that I met earlier this year riding the Appalachians, a good view of everything down this way on the way up North. Starting in the Mountains , across barely traveled in-land roads, then a sampling of PCH South , and then more barely traveled in-land roads...   Bigok

I have a simple plan to double the mileage I get out of a rear tire and possibly make a loop of Califonia on one tire.  The plan is to only wack the throttle open on 'every other' corner exit.   Wink .  Sounds good in theory, not sure if it will work out in practice...  Lol

BTW, we should be working our way back South and through your general neighborhood around the 14th or so. Can you come out and play?

Because Hwy 1 is so flat and boring. Hear that East of the Mississippi types? CA Hwy 1 is no good. Keep going to Deal's Gap.

How do you get the tiny urls??

When you're on Google Maps and click the small link button in the top right, above the URL and code snips there's a checkbox that says "Short URL"

Thanks for the tip.  I will have to pass this one onto the girls in the office.  While I am on the road sometimes I get an call and they ask me how far someplace is from where I am at.  I say "I don't know, google it"  then have to explain how to do that and how the make a tiny url.  Now they can do it well and I will tell them about the tiny url in google.
