That is beautiful. I'm waiting to see how the new Adventure turns out before I think about switching bikes. But this Multi appeals to me.
I had lunch the other day with a guy who has a Multi 1200. He told me that V-4 engine is amazing. I asked him if he was sure he didn't have a Honda Crossrunner. He asked me what I was talking about and the conversation went downhill from there. I believe his Multi sees a lot of coffee shop parking lots. If he wants a poser bike, he got the wrong Duc.

The thing you gotta ask yourself is, are you mainly planning on railing paved roads at high-speeds with short dirty connector roads in-between?
Or, are you mostly aiming for all dirty roads and/or off road at a much slower pace?
If you're like me, and vote for the former, the choice is clear...

Got 20k now on my MTS, pretty much all touring miles, can't think of another bike nearly as good and I've had quite a few...

Right there with you. I'm loving mine. I don't have the clicks on the ODO that you do, but I've seen most of the western half of the U.S. this summer on my strada and loved every minute of it.

After 8,000Km, I've had only one issue, immediately rectified by the dealer, and an electrical gremlin that still tries my patience.
Not bad at all for such a capable machine.
I've never been to Quebec before, but it was a joy to ride two-up and loaded, to the Eastern Townships/Northern New England.
Very comfortable, very fast, sporty enough for
one
OR
two
, and capable of "Many" roads, this one also feels like a long term commitment.

I think I know where they got the inspiration from. Venice isn't too far from Bologna!

You should not anthropomorphize machines. They don't like it.

hi, for lane sharing, has anyone reduced the bike's width (handlebars, methinks are the widest)?

The handle bars are quite tall. I (ahem) filter (ahem) in DC often, and they never are an issue for me. On the other hand the side cases sit quite low on the frame, and I do keep an eye out for those. Generally they are thin enough that they also do not pose a real issue, but I watch it regardless.
