Found a '91 Bandit 400 for sale near me.  Bike was running great (of course...) but apparently has some sort of issue with the throttle - grip is reluctant to turn.  Owner supposedly has maintenance receipts for recent carb cleaning / synch, oil change, new rear tire.  I'm sorely tempted to grab it for my first bike, but am a little leery that parts will be hard to come by and/or expensive.  The guy wants under $500 for it;  at worst, I'm guessing I could part it out and break even.

Also, anyone know a good Bandit forum?  Google has failed me on this one...

Thanks!

Get it!!  They are fun bikes.  Light, quick and tough.  I had one with a lot of goodies.  Full Yosh exhaust, racetech forks, Wilburs rear shock, ebc brake stuff..  It was a blast.  Wish I still had it.  Definitely a good second bike.

Well I've emailed him twice now, no response yet.  Never understood why you'd put something up for sale, and then not respond to people trying to buy it.   Headscratch

Just make sure it is a physical throttle issue and not something bigger like an internal engine problem or CDI problem, though at under $500 even replacing the CDI to get it running would be worthwhile.

I had one for a few years.  Very fun, though I did tire of having to keep it above 10k rpms to keep it moving sometimes.  Used it for day trips and weekend rides with up to 300 miles in a day and found it capable and comfortable (enough).  It was a physically small bike and not good for 2-up travel, and probably would be uncomfortable if you're tall.  I was fine at 5'9".

I also thought it was an awesome looking bike.
