With the Starcom1 it seems fairly well know that the wires will eventually fail on you.   The new Starcom1 Advance units have rat tails coming off the unit instead of plugging directly into the box.   Could these "rat tail" connections become a fail point that is not as easily replaceable?

Im trying to figure if it is better to leave those tucked cleanly into the tank bag and unplug at the helmet....  Or unplug at the bag and walk away easier.

Its hard to plug in the helmet once its on my head i've found.

First I've heard of this.  I've never had a wire fail in 3+ years of use.  That said, mine plug directly into the unit.

Good to hear!   Its all hearsay,  but i have heard horror stories of three headsets failing per season.   I was starting to get worried.
