It's time to replace the tires on my Sprint soon.  I just broke 10,000 miles and the Conti Road Attack tires I bought 5,000 miles ago are about dead.  I used to like that tire, but it doesn't jive with my Sprint and I get a bad headshake.

Using the stock 'stone BT020's as a baseline, does anyone have a recommendation.

I do a lot of commuting on freeways, with occasional trips to the twisties.  Sometimes I push the bike hard.  When in the appropriate environment I manage to wear the entirety of the tread (on the rear) and I know my bike's top speed.  I don't ride that way too often anymore.

I've had a set of Michelin Pilot Road tires in the distant past, but now there are newer and better designs (from what I can see tires have gotten pretty high-tech in teh last 5 years).

I'd like something AT LEAST as sticky as a BT020's and a higher mileage life if possible.  I'm open to various dual compounds and such.

Does anyone have a modern favorite?

BT-023's? Aren't those the current replacement for the BT-020's?

I kinda got used to the Road Attacks and quit following tire development.

The only reason I'm hosed now is because my Sprint complains about that particular set-up.

Michelin Pilot Powers are slowly becoming my favorite tire.  The Sprint is light enough that 5000 miles should pose no problem.  The 2CT's are dual compound and therefore should last longer than the standard Pilots.

Pilot Road 2. Not sure if they're as sticky, but I got over 9K from a set. Really happy with them all around.

BT23 is fantastic tire , for sport touring type the grip is outright ridiculous ,  those tires have more then bite  for any   kind of street riding . Outstanding feedback and stability from the front .

On something like Sprint rear should last 8000  miles , front much longer then that .

I've been getting 6 or 7K on a rear PR2 on my Tiger, which is a lil heavier than your Srpint, I believe (fronts a little more) . . . .

I'm really happy with them -- dry grip, wet grip (which is where PR3s are supposed to be superior), wear, relatively fast warm up . . . .they've be great for me.

FJR1300, my first Storm 2 fr/rr set, happy, here's the photo of the rear tire as of last week:

This photo is of my current rear Avon Storm 2 at 5700 miles; can easily see the harder rubber center strip.
Looks better than my priorr tires, I'm thinking ...
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g124/uhoh01/Repair%20Photos/Sept92011061A.jpg
2004 FJR model year - only about 300 miles of 2-up riding out of that 5700.
Storm 2's front is wearing evenly.

for background I usually got 5500 - 6000 out of a single rubber rear ST tire.
The only PR2 rear I tried, I changed at 7000, looked like it might have gone to 8000.  It worked.
For now, am betting Storm 2's will be slightly better than the PR2's and will have better life and feel, but still to see to the end.

I luved the Road Attacks on my Sprint.  But I wasn't a hard rider.

I'm REALLY luv'g PR2 rear and Angel front on my BMW.  Very neutral and VERY confidence inspiring.  I'm wearing out the sides of my front tires more than the center for the first time.

I just bought an Angel for the front of my Ninja 650 that currently has Road Attacks.  Stiill undecided what I'll put on the back...

Lot of people are starting to use theMichelin power pure, they have more grip and are lighter, sporty and will wear out faster. My tire choice is  the Pilot road 2's they will give you all the grip you will ever need on the street with a good life span. The last set of tires I had on my 08'Sprint were the PR3's and did not like them as a dry tire. Its more of a wet weather tire and no matter what pressure I ran them at I could not get them to work for me, also they started to cup at around 900/1000 miles like the original Bridgestones did

You might want to consider Pirelli Angel ST tires.  Very good wear and stick pretty well. I had over 7K miles on them (Bandit 1200) when I holed the rear. Rough guess is they were around 1/2 way through their mileage life.  I replaced them with Conti Sport Attacks as I feel the attacks just gel better with the Bandit's geometry. The Angels are a good tire and may be a good match for your scoot.

Agreed; I got 8,00 out of my OEM BT-020 on my Ninja 650R. I then shoed on a pair of BT-021 tires; they lasted 12,000 miles. I now have a pair of BT-023 tires & they're an improvement over the 020/021.

They are truly great tires. Sticky enough, too!

Conti-Motions. A damn good tire for VERY little money!  These have been a great surprise. Nice ride, good response, stick very well (And I push em' pretty damn good!) I have never get more than 4500-5000miles on ANY tire. The Conti's replaced Mich. PR2'S. Good tire, but for the price...??? Headscratch  I would run these(Conti-Motions) again in a heart beat! Just sayin'......

I have a set of these on my bike now and they are not lasting very long compared to Angels or PR2's.  Maybe half the life.  They perform well, but I won't buy them again.
