This didn't quit fit in trip reports and wasn't sure if I could just add it to our Vermont trip But thought I would post some pictures that aren't from My phone. Yesterday My wife Rochele,my friend Rashad(or Sorry I'm late and I'm hungry and need Gas), and myself decided to ride down to Allentown to check out a motorcycle gear store.
my point and shoot still needs a little work.
Rashad, taken from outside ,he just happened to look up from his glove search
at our lunch stop
And here are a couple pictures from my last ride up to Welesboro Pa

At the end of that ride going back down 287 almost to 220 I saw this big black bear running across the field and had to come to a complete stop and wait for him to run right across in front of the one car that was between me and him.

Not sure if its ok to just add to a "riding around home" type thread, so I guess I will until I'm scolded and corrected
But here are a few more pictures.
the camels on rt 54 just outside Turbotville, can't wait to see how they like snow.
didn't realize I was being watched by all the Amish in the background until I was done
And this one only makes sense if "the Darth Peach" means anything to you.

Berry nice! We do have some pretty places in PA. It's not all potholes and shithole dried up coal towns.
I've been to most of the places you show here. Thanks for sharing those. I didn't know there was a restaurant in the Tamaqua trainstation.

Mostly, but not all.
Just think 20 years from now we can add a bunch of dried up Natural Gas towns as well.

I was getting all excited thinking Triumph had released a RED Tiger.
Then I saw the second set of shots and realized the color is just off in the first set.

Nice pics...looks like a fun day. I realize it was not the primary focus of the trip but you mentioned the Cycle Gear store...I noticed recently there was one in my area now. About 20 minutes away, so I stopped in last week when I was out for a ride. What a disappointment. 90% Bilt merch. I was kinda intersted in new Tourmaster Luggage. Not there. Checked a couple helmets. Everything else was cheesy/cheap "leather". Quite depressing.

@shotist. I had the same reaction to the store. On there website they have all the brands I like and wanted to try a few things on for size 90-95% of the store Bilt.
On another note I wasn't sure of the orange either but since learned to embrace the orange

That's the Cycle Gear I shop at. Funny thing is Cycle Gear started out selling many different brands, now they are pushing their Bilt brand, which is crap.
It's a shame since I really liked the place until they started pushing cheap low quality merchandise.
Nice pics BTW.

Yeah...I typically say State College since Stormstown is a mere "village." Cablebandit's uncle is in Montgomery.
We sure are lucky to have some really great roads here in Central PA. If you ever get over this way, you *must* check out Marengo Road...it's a lovely little stretch practically in our backyard.
I've enjoyed your pics...thanks for sharing.

We get down to state college to take our bikes to Kissels. About a month ago we went and rode into college Ave for a couple hours while they were working on my bike. Will have to look for that road next time.

Its an old railroad station in Tamaqua. I drive by it in the truck and didn't realize they had food until we were down there on the bikes. It's on rt 309, on your right going south, between rts 81 and 78.

This is another little ride I took about a month ago out on 118 around Ricketts Glen. They have what they call the Falls Trail which I didn't hike up this day but just wondered around a little. True story; last time I hiked up there I had asked my 50-60 year old mom if she wanted to go for a little ride and hike on a nice day. We made it clear to the top then it just poured down rain for the whole walk back. Me back at the bike looking at my drenched mom "well mom do you want to wait for it to stop raining or ride back home" She chose to ride.
Not the Tiger this time but my other ride 07 zx14 now with 30000 miles on it.

Took another "ride about" Today on the tiger
Started out just a few miles from home while taking this picture a guy pulled in on his dr650 to ask a few questions about the Tiger. Turned out to be a nice 57 year old guy who lives about 5 miles from me. both he and his wife ride mostly dual sports, His dr had over 40000 miles on. Is it just me or do you meet more cool people riding a motorcylce.
and yes I do always ride at this speed....almost always....ok sometimes.
rode up rt 42 into Eagles Mere
Then across 154 over to Worlds End State Park in Forksville, this is one of our weekend rides we do often but I haven't been up since all the flooding you may have heard about.
I was surprised to see the damage and debris on this bridge
This is a section of 154 between the park and 87 would be quite the surprise at night if you didn't know.
but the covered bridge made it
up 87 to Dushore then back down 87 which really got hit hard with the flood and just destroyed some of the road. Still has road closed signs but you can ride down to 180.
And ended with our Saturday night biker hangout in Williamsport. Mostly a sportbike group but others show to Sat nights about sunset, we have had as many as 20 bikes, sometimes only a couple but its nice to hang out with friends and talk bikes and riding. stop in if you find yourself in the area. lol

Can't believe the damage on 154
Glad the covered bridge remains!
Looks like the weather has been perfect for riding - hoping it holds out for my next regularly scheduled work trip to NYC (and the Saturday I have free
).

This week-end looks pretty bad around here, rainy and lucky to get into the low 50s for the next 2 days.
Today I got out just for a short ride to try out my new windshield. Tigers are known to have alot of wind noise, many have tried many different windshields with not much help so when I saw good reviews on this one I thought I would try it. It was way bigger then i pictured but works as advertised. Now I can hear more sweet triple engine noise and less air, but the only question is it to big and ugly. hmmmm
A couple on the move shoots on rt 554,our mini local deals gap. lol
just seemed right on such a gloomy day.

Then I made a stop at Bob Logue's Honda shop. If you like some older bikes especially hondas this is worth a stop to check out his little collection, free and in the back of the dealership. here are just a couple pictures from here.
After Bobs I rode north on 973 and 44
and bonus points if anyone knows where this is.

Just perfect Oct weather in Pa this weekend. Yesterday four of us took a nice ride between Williamsport and Carisle, which ended up being a 235 mile ride for me start to finish. Some of the roads we too were 45 out of Lewisburg to 235 south ,which is a nice road,35, 333, 74-another really nice road for motorcyles. across 944 to 34. Back up 15 to 104, and then worked our way back up to williamsport for our saturday night hang out. Only took a couple pictures mostly enjoyed the riding.

beautiful. Another ride with some friends before going back to work.

Kevin I think they became friends , if you loved your zx10 you would take one home.

That's too funny. When the wind gets in that jacket, it makes me look like the Stay Puff guy. lol But hey, I was warm.
And that's a negative about taking a scooter home for my 10. hahah

Rainy and windy so far since I've been home but may still get out some later.
Until then thought I would share a gear break.... I've always wanted to try a pair of these but could never get over the cost. In a moment of weakness I finally hit the buy it now button.
Kangaroo, kevlar,stingray....
I may never take them off again.
Wonder how Rochele's going to feel about me wearing them to bed

Looked like this here this morning so went out for what would end up being over 180 mile ride.
The rain we had this week did seem to do some damage on the nice fall colors but still some nice areas.
some from relatively close to home on 44 toward Buckhorn Pa

I decided on a loop consisting of 339s to 924 to 93 to 239 and 118 , with some small side trips. A few from the windmill chasing portion of the ride.
And time to get back to work. Next weekend looks promising yet Hopefully there will be some color left in the trees but I always enjoyed riding when the leaves our dancing around in the road from the bike in front of me.

Ok back to some riding that I did get in. Sat evening/night my family had a hayride social event on my uncles farm and we got to gather with a small group, about 20 of us, of our riding friends and there kids and had a blast. But before that I got out for a little ride so when I saw this sitting along side the road I thought......
decided it would be best to stick with the tractor

Took the Tiger out today on an errand run. With the forecast of 10 inches of snow for tomorrow
I decided on taking some more locale pictures.
First stop truck parts from the cousin.
This place has about 30 different pizzas on the menu , rt 405 just outside Lewisburg.
Also some nice outdoor seating. Makes for a nice place to ride in the summer.
These pictures were all around Lewisburg ,Pa killing time waiting for......
" Can I take off what helmet Dr."
For about 10 minutes there was what looked to be a 60 year old guy on his hands and knees looking at the Tiger,
scared me a little looked like he was praying to it for awhile.

Scranton, we will have to get some new roads to try from you up there. We make a trip up to warhorse now and then. We have a good canon rebel camera with several lender, but to be honest I don't know enough to make good use of it. After reading the darth peach' s thread on advrider I was impressed with what she was doing with the point and shoot so I bought an almost new canon powershot a590 on ebay for $90. That's what I've been using so far. I like the idea of cheap in case I through it down the road. Since then I bought another canon powershot is150. Which is a 14 megpix. 12 x zoom verse my 4 x zoom 8 megpix for less then 200$. Didn't even get it yet but for less then $300 will have a backup camera too. I'm hoping over time to get better and learn a little more. I have enjojed some other peoples threads so decided to try a running one for awhile and see how it develops. Lol

Went out for my first November ride of the year. The zx was being neglected lately and looked a little angry so I thought it was time to take it out for a ride. Sunny 46 and a little breezy but not bad for Nov.

Today I took the Tiger down 125 as part of my ride. 125 is well known in the Pa sportbike crowd. If you like curves some elevation changes and even a place or two to get some air
if you so choose. The section used for the sunday morning sportbike rides is between rt 61 and 81. There are some places that can catch you out if you are unfamiliar with the road. Last
year 4 out of my first 5 trips down someone crashed.

In the summer I've been here in the Ravine truck stop with 20-30 other bikes and bikes coming and going the whole time we hung out there.
Not sure if I even capture how much fun this road can be but its worth a trip if your close.

Meet some of the crew for a drink but had to bail on the ride. Not a bad turn out for a 50 degree november ride. But work is calling again. Must make money for more bike stuff.

Another nice November riding day in Pa
Made a 180 mile loop up to the Pa grand canyon mostly taking 287 north then across 6 and down 15 on the way back.
The yes this bike is moving shots.
caught my friend Kevin in the parking lot
And my other friend who I can't mention because she is never to be seen in a photo. lol
everywhere should have motorcycle only parking
And the Saturday night visit with friends, wife Rochele, friend Christina who trust me enough to ride on the back and i'm sure will be appearing more in the spring, and Kevin 2 who as
you can see is just so fast he almost can't be photographed.

Today 5 of us got to gather for another 120+ mile ride. 300 miles on a November weekend feels pretty good. How long will it continue?
From wilmspt. we rode back to 87 to 864 to 220 and across 154 to the forksville store for lunch and back down 87. Note repairs are being made on
both 87 and 154( see pictures earlier on thread) still road closed signs up on 154 but you can ride across between 87 and 220. Just use caution around the signs and
in the one lane sections.
and our girl Jessica(#2) on her cbr 6000rr just to keep the kawasaki boys honest
spent half the ride chasing these two.
All I want for Christmas is 60 degrees and sunshine.
Passed our friend John going the other way, nice of him to come back and say hi
Finally a picture of Eric on his zx6
rt 154

Today I had one of those rare days with no obligations all day. So I decided to ride to Indiana for a Latte.
Caffe Amadeus 628 Philadelphia St. Indiana, Pa
So good.
Had to buy this book and see if it would lead to other good rides. Thought it was odd because basically what I did to get here was pick out
an area that I haven't ridden in much and search for an interesting cafe.
And one late day sun picture. I didn't really take many pictures today, just felt like riding. And I did for 423 miles.
Took 80 to get away from home then tried 879 219 286 to Indiana. some 422 to 53. Liked 53 especially north of 80.

Today I took my first Dec ride which consisted of taking my Tiger to Kissell's in State College and dropping it off for its 12000 mile service, and finally springing for some suspension improvements. Can't wait to get it back with the Penske shock and fork work .
First a couple sunrise pictures off the back deck.
And Rochele my ride home.
For the ride out we will give Rochele the camera and see how she does with some Tiger in motion shots.
Baby's got back.
meant in the kindness most caring way, yes you are my number 1.
The destination.
Think she looks the part?
Liked the looks of this street fighter.
Thanks for the ride and another fun afternoon.

Yes. I'm only about 50 pages in and have at least 8 or 9 new places marked that I would like to ride to and try. A couple in state college area sound really good.

I did manage to get out for about 50 miles today. Nothing to exciting but then again the weekly riding streak continues into December, And we all know
winter doesn't really start until you can't get your bike out the driveway any more.
Meet Rochele for a hot drink. And this is her Duck dressed for Christmas.
And another gear break. I am sorta a gear whore. But in recent years I have been trying to buy Quality pieces that I really like and that will last a long time.
I bought these awhile back to up the level of protection on my feet after reading a few crash stories and seeing pictures. I really like them and they are working out
great for cooler weather with warm socks.

Busy weekend and questionable weather, not sure if I'll get out. Looks like next Friday we will be trying to get back out to Kissells to pick up the Tiger with new suspension
upgrades.
Hope the weather holds out.

Took longer then I hoped but decided to swing by and pick up the Tiger on the way home from a couple day trip. Since it was snow flurrying and I had no gear along
this is how it went home. Still hoping to try out new suspension before the snow really settles in.

Well I could not help myself. I had to go out and test my new suspension.
I was alright with this
But then it started to snow flurry
At the top of this hill on 554 the roads were more white then um road colored.
so I did get a 50 mile ride in but more testing will need to be done.

In 2011 I rode 11501 miles and 7527 of those were on the Tiger. My wife Rochele rode around 5700 miles also.
And the 2012 riding season starts today with a 75 mile outing.

felt so good to get out today. I think it made it into the 50s for a couple hours and after dark the moon and stars were out.
Some remains of the Holidays.
This is the January sun.
Looks like another ride tomorrow afternoon with some friends maybe.

Another great January ride this afternoon and evening. Left Williamsport area and did some 44 up to little pine state park across to 287 n to 414 over to 14 and 15 for
a little over 160 mile ride with a couple friends.
a short stop at Little Pine State Park
as sooon as we got on 414 we caught a gas company caravan and had to follow them to 15, the jobs are nice
but they sure are messing up the riding around here. Roads were still in better shap then I expected for as far
north as we were. 414 between 15 and 14 had the most cinders on. About dark we went by a bank that said it was still
53 out if it was right.

Spence, most of your pics are familiar to me. Especially the Sullivan County (we have a house on 87 at the East end of Hillsgrove before you cross over the steel bridge. I'm originally from Mt. Carmel so I'm very familiar with 125 from Shamokin to Ravine. Used to ride all of those rodes from Ashland thru Lavelle, Weishample, Valley View (pronounced Walley Woo) Higgins, thru Cower Tity....er Tower City, and so forth.
Have done the Geisinger Childrens Miracle Mile Tour every year since I'm 18.
Love the pics! Can't believe I never saw this thread until now. I gotta stop in Region VI forum more often.

If you find yourself around Williamsport starbucks on a Saturday night stop in and say hi. We kinda made that the office last week there was 11 of us. Also if your that local we post up on pasportbikes.com with plans and rides also.my wides family live in the heggins area so she is real familiar with all those towns.lol

That was a neat little place. I don't know what got into me but I have a list and am planning on discovering some more different places around here that I never tried before. I guess I'm tired of seeing the same 10 chain places off every exit in the truck. lol

It's been awhile since I had the zx14 out. Forgot how much I like the sound of it over 7000 rpm.
It matches my bike perfectly.
Rode down to Ravine pa and 125 and meet Rochele on the way home. 125 still some cinders but better then I thought it would be.
and the lunch shoots from Sellingsgrove RedRobin
Looks like some nice weather this week....I will watch for you as I drive my TRUCK

Had a great day today. Went by one bank that said 80 degrees.
Meet up with my friend Vince for some riding that included 125 and other roads.
Vince's Honda nice clean bike with around 4000 miles on it.
signs of spring!
wildlife.
After riding with Vince we separated so he could meet the family for supper and I had a text from my friend Christina (we call her our grown daughter that we will never have, lol) wanting her first ride of the season, so before we rode up to starbucks bike night we had just enough daylight to take some pictures which I promised to do about a year ago. Christina is a teacher and we thought it would give her some "cool "points with the class.
showing off her matching blue phone.
and then we decided that her eyes match the zx14, so I'm thinking at some point she will just have to buy my zx14. lol
At tonight's starbucks bike gathering must have been 15-20 of us and nice enough to set out side again.

Rose Valley Lake first time there and not sure how I got there, watching road surface for cinders still.

Truck issues resulted in us coming home early this week, so I decided to ride down to Harrisburg DMV to get my Truck registration. It was pretty nice being there on a Thursday
It only took them about 3.5 minutes to take my $1673 and give me my card and little sticker.

Another great March day in Pa. Started by going to visit my Truck issues that brought me home early.
Then off for some two wheeled therapy
then met up with the wife
And ended the day with some friend time.
Had to keep reminding myself it was March, I should not be riding in a t shirt with no heated gear under my jacket and be warm,
But I Like It!!

Cool pics Spence, thanks for posting them. I didn't like the look of those truck repair pics,
that looked expensive. Sorry to see that. Your wife's gear looks neat, I especially think the whole skull thing gets some cool points when you see that one side of her helmet is scuffed.
Take it easy and enjoy the weather,

Lol scraperman, I had a transmission problem so came home to my cousins garage then discovered both rears that have 1.4 million miles on were finally on there way out. Then yesterday I also met with accountant to do 2011 taxes
. all in all a financially brutal 4 days!! Could put I guy in a really bad mood, but I'm trying to look at the positive: I drove it home with out needing an expensive wrecker, get the work done at home, and it was nice and 75 degrees for 2 days in march.

and yea Rochelle thought she was really cool when we gave her a head start down 87 from worlds end and told her we would catch her. I told my friend John that she would ride a lot faster just because she knew we were chasing her. Knowing her for awhile, about half way down I started to think she did the park and hide thing, about 5 miles before 180 we finally caught her behind a line of traffic. She was so proud of herself........and a little bit annoying.

Yesterday afternoon went for a ride with some friends. Started about 2 gathering up everyone from 4 meeting locations giving us a total of 9. We then played on 125 for awhile and separated and headed north in varies ways in smaller groups. Made a stop at home to give a friend a ride up to our usual Saturday night starbucks hangout with 10-15 people. It was a fun day.
There must have been 5 gopros on the ride. below hopefully will be an example of part of 125 with camera aimed back.

And then in the afternoon met Wife and her sister Angie to take Angie for a ride. It may take one or two more rides to convince her to go bike shopping.

Looks like Rochele and I will be riding to Kissels in state college tomorrow, probably late morning or early afternoon, to drop off her 696 for its 7500 mile service. Back again the next Friday to pick it up. Will be on the tiger just in case anyone else is out that way.

What and where is CPI? is that an advanced or instructor course of some kind?

CPI is the school off 99 at Harrison road.
ARC is the new MSF advanced rider course. We'll be getting certified to teach it this weekend.

Decided to ride to Mexico today.
Ended up riding about 260 miles down 235 and 333 from rt 45. I should spend more time down that direction, there are some nice curves. Here are some pictures from today.
It was a very nice afternoon of riding ending with a stop to visit friends at the saturday night starbucks bike gathering.

Another great afternoon for a ride. Ended up leaving the house around 2:30 and still had a enjoyable 261 mile ride. Started out by going out 42 to 118 and 415 up to Harveys Lake.
If you've never been to Harveys Lake yet there is a road that goes all the way around the lake, you can just keep doing laps with the water andboats on one side and some really nice
houses on the other.

After riding around the lake I went north toward Tunkhannock and tryed 292 and circled back around to 92 and back up to 6 and then over to 87
for the ride back down to Forksville. 92 was a nice road, 192 wasn't bad but the road surface was rough in places.

When I got to forksville I decided to ride some on 154. I went west first the 11-12 miles to Shunk and turned around. It's been awhile since I was on that section of 154,
I had forgotten how curvey it is out that way. Again the road is a little rough in places but not bad on the Tiger. After that I went past Worlds end park and took 154 out to 220 and turned around
back to the park, then down 87 to meet friends at the Saturday night Starbucks thing. Fun afternoon!

Went for one of the most layed back relaxed rides I have been on for awhile today with My friend John.
and stopped to meet my wife who joined us for the second half of the ride.
And then about 25 miles from home I went into a ramp that I know to be a decreasing radius ramp but I looked behind me to double check the lane beside me
and looked back to see I went wide and let all the loose stuff on the road spook me decided instead of leaning harder would use the lane that I knew was clear
but straightened up to long and got on the ouside edge of that one and just plain messed up.
for as bad as I threw it away I'm surprised at the little damage. I have a spare set of bags given to me with the bike when I bought it. I need to find a orange bag skin
and learn how to switch the locks. Get a new hand guard or live with the scuffs and a new foot peg.
Good to have a back up bike. Rode home and regrouped and rode to bike night with 15 plus or minus tonight.

New look until I find a blazing orange infill panel.
First time I rode the bike without the bags on since I bought it. Maybe the look will grow on me.

Repair process started.
Since I messed up the right foot peg I decided to order a pair of SW-MOTECH convertible on-road/off-road footpegs for the Tiger.
installed them today. They can be lowered by15mm and are wider as you can see in pictures.
stock.
Motech.
I also took bike to a friends to check out why brake light was sticking on, Turn out to be rear brake light switch, disconnected and ordered switch.
I also took my extra saddlebag and my smashed bag to a local locksmith to have lock switched out. He said the good/extra bag looked like someone had drilled out the lock before, and he was having a hard time
removing the lock from smashed bag. Solution, since the back half of smashed bag(where lock is) didn't have a mark on it remove front half of good bag and switch now I have a perfect bag without removing and
reinstalling lock. all I need to do now is buy an orange infill panel and replace the silver one that was on spare bag and it will be close to as good as pre-crash.

Great pics and commentary. I did not realize that there are camels in Pa. I have seen Bison but that was the most exotic animal so far. I will have to take a trip upto Turbotville to see the camels.
I will also have to check out Ken Hull's book.
