The paint is extremely soft.  Just like on my Wing 1800.

Ahh - it looked good at least. And anything is better than the paint Suzuki uses Lol

What's the deal with the paint on this bike?  Who cares?  It's like putting lipstick on a pig.

It actually looks better in sliver, it pulls the emphasis off the random silver bits and massive exhaust.  It also helps tone down the ugly on the X shaped headlight.

I too wonder why all the haters on the vfr? found one brand new 2010 $10400!! at that price don't see how you can go wrong! haven't rode one yet, but plan to, have been researching them for a while now and i hear really good things. some issues with low speed fueling but honda is doing a free remap to solve this. only thing i can complain about is the price of the luggage, but one can always go givi!

Haters of the new VFR are:

Closet VFR fans but can't justify the price for a Japanese brand, yet justifies it easily on a BMW.  This board is full of them.

BMW has everyone fooled nowadays.  Look at the fit and finish on their bikes and compare them to a Honda, especially the VFR.  Even more important is the quality/reliability.  For the same $$, the K1300S sole advantage is heated grips.  But to some, the BMW roundel is worth all the money.  Same with their cars.  They charge way too much for a BMW car yet other brands give more for the same $$ or less with greater reliability.

I picked up a new VFR1200 a few weeks ago for $10,499.  Because of poor weather, I only have 500 miles on it.  But, so far, it has far exceeded my expectations.  At that price, it is a HUGE bargain!  If you like a super comfortable, super smooth and fast sport touring bike, this is a FANTASTIC bike!  I wouldn't have considered buying it at full MSRP.  But, now that I have a few miles on the bike.  IMO, it would've been worth full MSRP.

Two years ago, Honda was blowing out new 2008 CBR1000RRs and I got one for $7299.  I've owned over 80 motorcycles in the last 41 years, and have no doubt that the 2 best deals I got on new motorcycles are these 2 bikes.

Congratulations on a great deal on one helluva bike!  To my eye that's a sweet looking machine but what's most important is that you, the cash paying customer, are satisfied with the product.   You sound happy with the purchase and I agree 100% that leftover machines are the way to go.   I bought a 07 vfr 800 in mid 2009 when honda officially reduced the price to under 8k.   In 2.5 years that bike has been flawless, no issues at all.   It feel as solid as the day I bought it.  Post your thoughts on the machine as time allows if ya don't mind.   Always good to hear first hand real experience.

I put my helibars and givi sport touring shield on yesterday my lower pegs will be here tomorrow, and lucky for me 60degrees Sunday so I will put some more miles on it.I will probably do a corbin seat or exhaust next,I feel with the deal I got on it I can blow a little money accesorizing.I am like you 47 yrs old and probably between dirt and streetbikes have owned 40 to 50 last 20yrs also.I believe my 2009 Honda CRF450R in 2010 brand new for $5k OTD and this one to be probably some of my best deals.
