This was cage, not motorcycle, road trip as I has to drive out to Seattle,
and haul my daughter's belongings to Bellingham this past Thursday to
Sunday. Just FYI.

Thursday, departed at 4:15am MST. First stop at rest area on I-84 just
before the I-82 jct. Took WA-14 and CR-221 to Prosser for fuel. WA-14
and CR-221 was a welcome change of pace from I-82, and is 10 miles
shorter. Last 2 miles of CR-221 is a 6 degree downhill grade. Made a
right at stop sign, and got back on I-5 to next exit for fuel. Got on I-90
into Seattle arriving at 12:15pm MST. Parking meters enforced from
8am to 8pm Monday through Saturday with 2 hours MAX. Cost me $14.

Friday, moved car into private parking lot at 8am and paid $11 to park
there until 6pm. We split to her friend's house then got back after 8pm.
Filled trunk with boxes and boxes of her belongings then called it a night.

Saturday, got coffee, fed parking meter for 90 minutes, and loaded rest
of her stuff in back seat and trunk. Got outta Seattle, and grabbed brekkie
at the IHOP in Lynnwood. I-5 straight to Burlington then Chuckanut Drive
into Bellington. Chuckanut Drive is a terrific motorcycle road! Timing is
the key for a decent romp through those curves, and traffic was rather
light that late morning. Checked into Motel 6.

Sunday, we checked out, and drove to Harris Avenue Cafe in Fairhaven
Village for a fabulous brekkie with excellent service. It's sort of like a
minnie-me version of Carmel-By-The-Sea. We then drove to WWU
and unloaded her stuff with help from designed WWU students with
HELP t-shirts into her 2 bedroom on campus apartment. Said our
good-byes, and split at 1:05pm MST for Boise.

I-5 was okay, but ran into heavier traffic on I-405. I-90 had more
traffic than expected which continued towards Spokane when I
took I-82. Bypassed Prosser thinking CR-221 & WA-14 would
have slow vehicles with limited passing options.

Went through Pendleton for fuel which was a long detour as one
has to go through the entire town before reaching next exit. If I
was to motel it there, Rodeway would get my vote due to fenced
parking with shade. Had dinner at Mickey D's in La Grande. Got
a massive bug splatterfest btw La Grande and Baker City that
completedly depleted the wiper fluid. Arrived home at 10:35pm.

Expecting new motorcycle tires from Jake Wilson via UPS today. Smile

Took Chuckanut home on my pre-Borscht warm-up ride in July after our run up Mount Baker.

Mount Baker is a fabulous motorcyce road.  Is "Parents Weekend" soon enough that you could ride out for it and get a run in?

If I ride out from Boise to Bellingham, it'd have to wait until 2012. Won't see her again until she's home for crimmus. She's very happy at WWU and thinks it's an amazing college.
