I'm new to the US riding scene, but I keep seeing references to "NewEnough.com" as a good place for second hand gear and apparel.  But the new website "MotorcycleGear.com" seems to only be new stuff, and at prices the same as everyone else.

Two questions :

1.  What is NewEnough/MotorcycleGear all about?  Are they something special or just another online retailer?
2.  What are some good places to find second hand gear and apparel? Ebay seems to be mostly online retailers again and trying to ferret out real second hand stuff is becoming more difficult.

Particularly, I'm in the market for a set of wet/cold weather pants like the Tourmaster Venture or FirstGear HT.

Cheers

NewEnough used to be a mix of second hand, closeout, and new apparel with an Ebay store as well as a website.

Now they are a new gear website with EXCELLENT customer service.

Internet forum classifieds are probably your best bet for used gear.

Newenough.com had a lot of "last years" models at really great prices.  I don't remember seeing many second hand stuff, but I'm not an active shopper of theirs.

Of the few orders I have placed with them, they are awesome though.  Quick shipping, easy returns.  (Note: Have not ordered anything since the name switch)

I think second hand stuff is easier to find on ebay or craigslist.  (or the classifieds here)

Got it.  Seems my understanding of what NewEnough was all about was off the mark.  I'll have a good look through their stock.  References for good customer service are always good to hear!

Thanks!

 Lol   Sorry!

I'd fill you in, but the original thread was lost in the Great Crash of STN V1.0   Short version: people were so impressed with what Paul (NewEnough owner) would do to make his customers happy, it was rumored that he actually donated one of his kidneys when sending out a replacement pair of boots.  Cool

When they started, they dealt mostly (perhaps exclusively) in pre-owned race leathers, which were expensive when new, so there was a market for them. Hence the title "New Enough". As their business grew, they expanded into new gear and gained a reputation as having killer deals on closeout items. They have now grown even more and carry full lines of most of the major brands. Because their customer service is so good, people come back to them to buy regular priced goods as well as the closeouts they are famous for. "New Enough" was no longer an apt title, so they changed it to "Motorcyclegear.com".

Get on their mailing list for first crack at some of their famous closeout deals.

The "Marketplace-Bike Tech" section on this very website (Sport-touring.net) is a great place to find gear as well. Folks here are usually willing to sell stuff at a reduced rate to the STN brethren. (if you're new here, you may have to post a few times before it shows up...moderators correct me if I'm wrong.)

Thanks, Scott.  That's a great explanation.  I've been onto the Marketplace forum here and will keep looking to see what comes up.

The service has always been stellar.

IMO the deals aren't what they used to be...  They are still "good", but not the amazing "OMG I just got this $200 jacket for $39!" I enjoyed.

I've gotten good deals on Cycle Gear closeouts recently.

Since their re-name I haven't done near the amount of business with them.

You know, I just don't like the "new" name. So generic that I don't even remember it when I'm looking for something, I still type in newenough.com.

Yep, I type in New Enough in Google when I'm looking for their site.  Yes, there is a link above, but I am not always here.

As a new rider, I have bought boots, two jackets, and one pair of pants from them at closeout prices.   Bigsmile
