While I was in Italy, I saw this event reported on television. They appear to close off a public road and hold a time trial
Would be great to see that done at Deal's Gap

There are lots of roads I'd love to see this done on here stateside. Too bad we're too uptight here to do it.

That's great! Love how they have all those different classes...looks like many of them are "street bikes" with some track prep...love the guy hangin' off the scooter!
Also, love that it's reported on mainstream TV (or at least it looks like it to me...I don't understand Italian)--and it's a piece about motorcycles that doesn't dwell on injury, death, hooliganism, or organized crime. Just a bunch of enthusiasts having fun. Even if that kind of thing were done here in North America, it wouldn't get much TV time (unless there was a horrific crash or a shooting...).

The course is so tight that the supermoto guys might be having the most fun.
You and Kurt W would go and do this event, wouldn't you?
And a big plus 1 to Kootenanny's comment. In this country the only footage aired would be crashes.

On the Sky satellite network, they have a MotoTV channel.
One show had a panel of old graybeards discussing famous old marques like Mondial & Bianchi. I wished I knew what they were saying

Why it can't happen at Deals Gap at the dragon.
1 In Italy if someone crashes and gets hurt it the rider's fault, thats part of racing.
2 In America if someone crashes it everybody else's fault because it was to risky, let the law suits begin
Intersesting to watch it though

There used to be time trials at Chimney Rock (south of Asheville) when it was privately owned, but they stopped and now that Chimney Rock is a state park, it will certainly never resume.
I thought there was a time trial on a roadway up near Boone/Wilkesboro area still going on. Maybe/likely only for cars.

They close off Gilpin Rd near Flintstone, MD for a time trial race. I passed through there last year on a Friday as they were putting hay bales around the course. I think it's a sanctioned event. Forget the name right now...
EDIT: Found it, appears to be cars only
