Is there a EOE best place to have tires mounted/balanced in San Diego?  I have a set of used OEM tires I want to try on my truck without the experiment costing a zillion dollars.  Costco used to be the place to go, but they no longer do tire mount/dismounts except for new tires purchased there, and most of the chains seem to charge extreme amounts to do them.  I want to have the four used tires put on the truck wheels, the two best of the removed tires put on two spare wheels, and the two dead spare tires and two worst of the removed tires disposed of.  Six dismounts, six mount and balance, four disposals.

Tx!

The best places I have found for this is places that specialize in selling used tires.

In Edmonton, we have a place called Dollar Tire. I'm sure there must be someone in your area who offers a similar service.

OR, try a wrecking yard. They dismount tires all the time as part of their auto recycling, to sell the tires and wheels separately when needed. I'm sure they could mount yours too.

This place popped up at the top of google's search results for "used tires san diego", no idea besides that....

That seems like a good place to look - used tire stores aren't normally on my radar, but makes sense.  Tx!

Probably too late to be of any help now but Tire Depot on Adams Ave is really cool. Low cost sales and service. I have came in with flats on tires that were not purchased there and they plugged and remounted them for free. They have done that more than one time now too.

Thanks for the reminder to update:  I ended up having them done at Discount Tire on Mission Gorge.  I checked with a couple of the used tire places, and they were all around $17 for a dismount/mount/balance.  I then asked Discount Tire (which is where I usually have tire work done), and they quoted me $15, plus were ready and willing to do it then and there on a Saturday afternoon.  I've had really good support from them, actually.  Plus they're right next to my preferred El Pollo Loco lunching location.   Cool

So in my limited experience, there didn't end up being a place significantly cheaper than a mainstream tire store.

Up here in the GWN they are asking 22 bucks apiece to mount and balance.
