According to a
new WHO report
, Canadian cities have pretty clean air, and
"B.C. had six of the top 11 cities in the country, including Kitimat, Burns Lake, Houston, Terrace, Smithers and Nelson."

Nice, but calling them "Cities" is kinda pushing it.

I've been to Nelson, and lots of the air there has rather a purple haze.

Yea, and lets see, the paper mill shut down, and well the smelter runs on electricity generated from a damn. The few people that are left working there don't really have far to drive. Oh, and it rains 364 days a year there which washes down any particulate in the air.
I remember once having a barbecue on one of the mill supervisors deck around may 24th, and we were looking at 6' of snow in his backyard.
OK, the air might be clean but if I had to live there I would wish that I could stop breathing.
Of course the other places have no industry left at all these days. Hard to pay the bills with clean air.

Hmmmm, calling Burns lake, Houston and Terrace cities (heck, even Kitimat) is a bit of a stretch! But nice to know the air outside the Big Smoek is still pretty good for you.

Terrace is probably less than 8000 people right now and I bet Kitimat is probably less than 5000 people. (The population in both places has dived sine the last census in 2006)
Calling them cities is a bit of a stretch these days.

Just saw on the news, there's a new gas facility/shipping port being built in Kitimat, so that might help the population stats a bit.
Having lived there, though, dunno if I'd recommend it, unless you like precipitation...
