Congrats to King Carlos for his very smooth and impressive season.  Bigok

I bet Ducati wishes they had just a little bit of Checa's good JuJu in MotoGP

Busy Little Shop is probably holding his head in his hands asking how many world championships can an "antiquated" engine win?  Bigsmile

Since Ducati was so dominant this year, I wonder if race direction are going to tack some more weight onto the bikes?

Checa: 6 poles, 20 podiums, 14 wins, 0 - 2nd place, 6 - 3rd place, and 10 fastest laps.

Ducati: 25 podiums, 14 wins, 2 - 2nd places, 8 - 3rd places, 10 fastest laps

Also, not damn bad for a non-factory squad, though I would think they are heavily supported by Ducati Corse anyhow.

Ducati would not have been dominant at all if you remove anything Carlos contributed.

to me, it seems like the Ducati corners better than almost any bike out there. It may be down in power to the Aprilia (and others) but it did not seem to matter when you had someone that was so smooth. I dunno, I can't figure out why Checa was so dominating this season. Not to take anything away from him though. Often, I think his smooth riding made for much better tire life, while everyone else was hamfisting it and ruining their tires before the halfway mark in the race.

+1 ,  the rules stayed the same for the last couple of years ,,,,,,,,,, It seems he finally figured out how to stop crashing  ,,,,,,,,back in his MotoGP years he was just as bad as , let`s say , Randy De Puniet is now .

I dunno...watching the Magny Cours round, it seemed the Ducati's acceleration out of corners was fairly close to the Yamaha's, so I wouldn't chalk it all up to riding skill.

It's interesting to see the number of people that have had mediocre stints in MotoGP, yet did well in WSBK (or Moto2 in Elias' case). I guess the level of talent of the aliens is on a whole different level in MotoGP.

hard to say, although I have thought the same thing.

MotoGP, IMO, is a fickle bitch. And to me it seems like a case of "how fast can you afford to go" class. If everyone was on a level playing field, how would it turn out? Why has Hayden not had a nearly great year since his championship? Why has Rossi had such a shitty year? Elias, Edwards and others....what's their deal?

Not to take anything away from the Repsol or FIAT teams, but it sure seems like they had the deepest pockets over the past few years and their riders have prospered accordingly. Maybe it is that technology is a fickle bitch, and at various years, certain teams have a bigger advantage.

It could also be that the different GP bikes perform well only if a narrow range of conditions, whereas in WSBK, being (nominally) street bikes, they perform better in a wider range of conditions???
