What are folks using for helmet storage? I've currently got mine sitting on a box in my office, though I'd like to move them out into the garage so they can be located with the rest of my gear.
Some options I've found are:

A DIY setup using PVC pipe.

I don't know it for sure but I believe that keeping the helmet from UV and climate control makes the helmet last longer.
Twice as helmet got older I left them in the garage while putting my newest in a helmet bag in the house. The older ones quickly went from fitting well to loose with the lining shedding flakes of foam.
Just my 2 cents.

I keep all our hats in the coolest and driest part of the house, the master bedroom closet. Heat and humidity are your lid's worst enemies when you're not wearing it. You can use a helmet re-freshener to deal with the sweat and hair/body oil stuff. I've got a 12+ year old Arai that I would be happy to wear because right now it's sitting in a dry, dark place.
Sadly, they do pass their usefulness. I had a Wes Cooley replica that, with great remorse, I had to retire. I got about 15 years out of that one.

Hmm. Well, I suppose I could consider hanging/storing them somewhere in the house instead. In their current position, I just worry about them falling to the floor...

I have one helmet. It's sitting on my kitchen counter. When riding is done for the season, I'll move it down to the basement and put it in the dust cover thingie and then in the box it came in.
