Run the parallels down WV, then hop on the BRP.  Group I occasionally ride with does an annual trip to NC, purposely avoiding the Skyline.

Typically we come across more sightings of cops and deer on the 100 miles of the Skyline, then the rest of the 2.9k trip.  One of the riders is a cop... even he can't dodge the ticket on the Skyline Lol.

I ran Skyline last weekend on Sat. Heading South was brutal with traffic until I hit the 211 crossover, then it lessened and had a decent ride at about 40-45mph till about MM 55 where I headed back to Front Royal. Traffic heading north was great, other than a BMW Z4 who was scared of turns (5mph through a  speed limit sweeper). Its only 10 buck for a 7 day motorcycle pass so cost is minimal. As far as LEO presence, there was on radar check at a wayside stop and I passed 2 others during the ride. I didn't see it as a bad ride, weekday would have been better but all in all; I cant complain.
