T-Minus 14 hours. Going to New Mexico!
«

I've got my route set. Colorado Springs to Taos and west to Farmington to stay the night. Then up 550 through Durango, the Million Dollar Highway and west on Hwy 50 through Black Canyon.
I got my custom-fitted sheep skin seat cover made today in an hour and a half (Thanks Sheepskin Factory of Denver!). The bike is prepped and ready to rock out this 2 day, 1,000 mile adventure.
I'll post the ride report when I get back. It may be a little lite on pictures since I'm pushing 500 miles a day and we have under 12 hours per day of daylight.
Here's the route:

Looking for 1-2 more to depart from Colorado Springs! PM if interested.

That's a great route you have planned there. Hopefully you can hit 92/Black Canyon with no traffic as that is one of my favorite roads(I rode it last at 7am without a soul on the road). The section between 50 and Crawford is just awesome. Last time I rode over it was Labor Day weekend, and the last half of it was freshly coated in chip seal, so hopefully it's clean by now, but just an fyi and be careful.
Have fun!

Thank you all for the warm wishes!
Yeah, 92 (Black Canyon) was freshly chip sealed in August for the last 14 miles before you hit the summit. I road it a month ago and it was compacted a little bit.
Its not good enough to have fun but at least you can do the speed limit and get through it fast.

I got back this evening at 7.
2 twelve-hour days on the bike and just a little under 1100 miles. No performance awards or crashes.
Perfect weather and no traffic. Actually, "no traffic" is an under statement. There were vast sections of mountain roads, especially in New Mexico where we would see a car about every 10 minutes or so.
This ride is going down as one of my all-time best.
Lots of pictures, ride report in a day or two hopefully.

Glad you're back home safe and sound, and looking forward to the full report and pics.
And yeah, it's amazing how desolate these western states are once you get away from the population centers.
