There was an article on Nelson, BC in the LA times recently, written by Chris Reynolds, a travel writer.  I saw the article a few days ago, then I heard an interview with the writer on CBC this morning--he made the comment that he got some very nice e-mail responses, from the likes of the mayor of Nelson, the fire chief, and the chamber of commerce--apparently, he never got those messages when he wrote about New York or other major US cities Headscratch

Oh, and he wants to come back...

Me too. I've been hitting up bctechnology.com daily doing a job search. First choice is the Kootenay's but not much call for programmers in that area. It's looking like either Vancouver (not a f'n chance! That's just Toronto west!) or Victoria which is a VERY nice city.

Hate to say it, but you gonna have to contend with another easterner soon. Bigsmile

Keep your eyes on the Okanagan...we're constantly hearing about the need for high-tech workers there...

Best source for jobs in the area ...  Where mrs zanetti works btw Smile

Probably not what you are looking for but an example of local jobs involving programming. Teck is a good employer by most accounts ..

Keep your eye on Teck then. Whether they use SCADA or not is unknown to me.  Teck is the biggest employer in the Koots and are doing huge upgrades and expanding. Hey, I drove a truck in Fraser Lake once ...  Headscratch

Zellstoff Celgar just added something like 120 new workers; a few of their maintenance planners are recent hires.

For the engineering design types, I'd suggest AMEC in Trail (once, a long time ago, this was CESL--Cominco Engineering Services Ltd.--but after separating from Cominco the office has changed ownership a few times, and is currently a branch of AMEC).

I might have a line for an experienced fab shop manager...

You do realize that now you will have an invasion of wealthy Californicators flood the place.  Crazy

Beautiful country up there. I just wish there were more opportunities for systems and network admins up that way.

I hear the Nelson Fire Chief is good at writing letters.
