I've had a turtle fur neck warmer for probably 6 years now and had been considering replacing it, as it isn't as soft and fluffy as it was when new. But it still worked, so I kept it. But now it is missing, the temperatures are forecasted to plummet and I needed one. What to do?

My local moto shop had heard of them; no-go there.
Amazon listed them as $20 +$6 shipping.
REI listed them as $25.

REI is just down the street from work so I hit them on the way home yesterday, figuring that $25 isn't bad for many years of warmth and comfort  Inlove  But when I picked up the fuzzy goodness from the rack, I saw the price - $11  EEK!  Hot damn! I'm buying two!  Lol

And then at the counter, already pleased with my savings, I had the cashier check my REI balance. $60+ "Would you like to use that today?" Damn right I do!

Is there a point to this thread? Probably not. But if you want something warm and fuzzy (and fairly well water-repellent) around your neck this winter, I can't recommend a Turtle Fur product highly enough  Thumbsup

Can the purring be considered a "neck massage"?

Good quality ski gear serves double duty on the motorcycle. Long underwear, pile pants/shirts, windproof/waterproof warm gloves, neck warmers, ski socks. For winter riding, I pretty much just get dressed like I'm going skiing but wear my moto jacket and pants instead.  Thumbsup

Good lord.  They have the worst website ever!  Are these magical items made of polar fleece?  I'm getting sick of being a fire hazard due to static electricity from polar fleece.

Lol  Yeah, their website sucks donkey ears, otherwise I would have linked to it.

It is synthetic, yes, but I've never had any issues with static electricity (and I usually do in the winter  Crazy )

Is it just a neck warmer or does it cover your entire head?

I haven't had anything warm and fuzzy around my neck in so long - I don't think I could stand it.

I have no neck so a long sleeve mock neck compression tee seems to do the trick.

I also wouldn't want to mess up my turtle karma by wearing their fur.

I have a collection of balaclavas that I increase every time I mislocate the last one I bought.  Actually if I switched from buying black ones to buying flourescent orange ones I'd prolly stop losing them.

As a baldy I do have to remember to wear them inside-out, else when I show up for work in the morning I've still got a 'seam' running down my head for quite some time that raises eyebrows during meetings and in the elevator.

I wore mine a couple of times before I clued in on the "inside-out" trick. Not that I have a bald head, but the seam running up my forehead was a little odd  Embarassment

Do you wear the Turtle Fur neck gaiter while riding a motorcycle, or is this just for non-riding use?

Yeah Turtle fur is excellent stuff. I had a hat and neck warmer when I used to ski. That said, when it's cold I like to velcro up the neck on my jackets and between the helmet chin strap + fastener and my 'stich collar buttoned up, I cannot stand anything around my neck. I do wear an Underarmor turtleneck which is a daily wear in the fall/spring, and between that and the nice collar on the RC or Darien jacket my neck stays nice and warm. I thought I'd try a couple different balaclava's but I don't like those either, but they do come in handy when I'm engaged in other activities like robbing liquor stores.

DD----if you're right down the street from REI, they have a couple blowout sales on leftover merchandise and restocked return items. I've heard you can get AWESOME deals at the REI yard sales.
Keep your eyes peeled for their sale I think they have it two or three times a year.  Thumbsup
