Hey everyone,

I recently bought an 05 ZX636 with some strange brackets on the passenger pegs.  I have not been able to find out what they are for and would like to know so I can sell them.  Does anybody know what they are?  The pegs are attached and they attach just like pegs and even pivot a little bit until they hit the tire.

Thanks!

It looks like they are some home made stays for soft luggage to me. Very similar to what swmotech (Twisted Throttle) uses for their Blaze side bags.

They are cast aluminum so I don't think they are home made.  The outside is shiny because somebody hit them with a scotch brite pad on a buffer.

LOL.  Are you talking about the Honda Silverwing or something else?  I didn't see anything when I searched for silver wing.

I think they are aftermarket because the pegs that are attached to the brackets have a cheezy carbon fiber looking finish.

I don't know but they look scary and very pointy. Well made looking things they are though.

I think they're a fender bracket or bracket cover off some cruiser. Look at those indents where the pegs are. They're shaped about right to accommodate the shocks.

That might be right.  I'll have to look at them a little closer tonight.  If they are fender brackets I don't know what those tabs would be along the top.

They look like the rear fender struts for a Honda VTX1300C. Google it and look at the images.

It would be where the front seat bolts in. I think 2wTraveler is right on, especially as I was thinking VTX as well.

Well they are hella good lashdown points for bungees anyway.  Thumbsup

Seriously the things look like they are designed to rotate to me. Adjustable position something or others. Look at the anchor points and the black thingies on top. Almost looks like
a pivot axis and locking system to me.

Looks like a homemade luggage rack design that hasn't been finished.

Either that or to skewer Tri-tip roasts and cook with your exhaust while underway.
Or rotate them pointed down and foward to collect zombie heads while riding.

I agree on the custom luggage rack idea. My Guzzi has a couple of clamps that bolt in just behind the passenger pegs that lock in the side cases.

Maybe the holes in yours are for some similar mount that you don't have?

I really hate to try the common sense approach, but is there a part number on the casting that you could Google????

Nope, 2wTraveler is almost certainly correct. They're fender struts from a VTX1300. the tabs at top are typical Honda, where the driver seat bolts in.

Guess the previous owner had them laying around and figured they'd make good stays for softbags...

Heck, I've still got some luggage racks from my old shadow.

Wonder if I could rig 'em up for the Ninja...

Yep looks like you guys are right.  There aren't any numbers on the castings that I could find.  Dang I was hoping they were some high end luggage brackets worth lots of $$$

Thanks for the help!
