42 degrees @ 5:00 - went out the crank up the big boxer and she put the R in R1200GS.  R-R-R-r-r-r-r-r-rrrrrr *click*  New battery as of this July.

Damn - with full gear on and little interest in changing and caging I had to skip over to the SV, which got me here trusty but chilled.  Haven't rode or started the GS in about 10 days, didn't have it on a BT either (my bad).   Are they known for cold starting problems?

Not familiar with your beastie (phew), but, July purchase notwithstanding, if the battery wasn't good after 10 days of autumn weather (it's no like it's been 20 below), I'd get it checked . . .  .

Unless you left something electrical drawing power, of course . . . .

Thanks.  My first thought was water in the gas or bad gas - I'd fueled it up just before getting home and putting the cover over it.  

One thing I need to do is install a switch on the aux lamps the previous owner put on and hard-wired.  They draw quite a bit of juice on startup.

it would have to be pretty bad fuel indeed to keep the scoot from starting . . . . not impossible, but I'd  charge the batt and work form there.
