I am planning a ride on the FJR tomorrow with Alan from Fair Oaks. Alan is a great rider, last summer he made on of those rides that I would love to do, but am not sure I'll ever do it. On his Vstrom he rode from Cabo San Lucas to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Now, I'm riding to Prudhoe in the summer of '08, but I'm not leaving from Cabo.
Anyway, since he and I are riding tomorrow in preparation of a 25 passes in 24 hours ride, I decided to give the sport tourer a break and take the DRZ up to the hills to find some dirt roads, paths, whatever. I found rain. I am currently riding on Bridgestone Trail Wings and if anyone has heard the rumor that they suck on mud, I can vouch for it. I decided to hide from the hard rain for a spell in a town called Gold Run, just off of I-80 about 43 miles North East of Orangevale.
I pulled the camera and took a few shots...

Where I was resting

A nice place to hang out in a storm, two people stopped to see if I needed anything and then I saw a dad and his two sons ride by on dirt bikes...I whimped out not wanting to test my luck on the trailwings and mud again and went home...looking forward to my day between 101 and ca1 on Skaggs road, Pine Flats and 128 and more tomorrow...
