Garmin needs to update their maps...  Rolleyes

Sadly, they are held hostage to when states choose to officially update their maps and make the data available.

One road improvement went about 4 years before GPS data caught up with the change.

If I remember correctly, Garmin (and most of the others) get their data from Navteq, and not the states (who don't own most of the roads in the country in any event).

I'm sure, but the database is updated with new information as road crews complete the project and official maps are updated.

I can only imagine how many hands things go through before the data is finally released to whomever provides it for GPS companies to use.

To add to the topic drift, I'll add that I suspect the states generally know about changes fairly quickly.  Think about emergency vehicles being surprised by closures, openings, and re-routings.  But, too, the further the data gets from official users, the slower I suspect it moves.  That could, however, just be my paranoia talking... but not too loudly, or they might hear me.   Bigsmile
