The wife and I are in LA for an overnight before heading back after our cruise.  We rented a car at LAX and went for a drive up the coast from the airport.  Headed up the PCH, we got just past Santa Barbara and turned north on one of the canyon roads.   Dear Lord, I'm coming back on the bike. Drool

23 north off the PCH was a treat, Mulholland was an eye opener and I'm officially jealous.  Too damn bad it's a 2600 mile commute from Michigan or I'd do it every year.   Lol  The bad news was we came upon a lowside on Mulholland, but no injuries to speak of.  We got the bike upright and off the highway, leaving him in the capable hands of the local folks.  From the appearance of the bike, it wasn't his first.  All the plastics were gone and there were several areas of rash on the other side from the down.  He was all of 60+ in age too.

We're headed out to Pomona for dinner with one of our friends sons now.  I have a craving for some Mexican food and I hear it's pretty good out here.

Yeah, I live in a place known for good roads, in BC...but last summer's ride down to northern California was epic, I can no longer brag about our local roads the way I used to. Wink

What I can't get over is the remote back roads that are paved.  Here, we don't pave the logging roads...

Tell the truth... are you thinking about moving out here?

I live in Venice and have been here 30 years.  Every weekend it's up PCH, best twisties up to Mullholland.  It's paradise. I never take for granted some of the best riding is in my backyard.  And there's a community of riders too.  Within a mile of my house are several MC shops too.  Can't beat it.  I spent 27 years in New England.  Make that 27 winters.  That was way too many.

My buddy came out from Boston and rented a bike.  On an 8 day trip, we went to Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Sequoia and Kings Canyon.  He couldn't believe it.  I told him you've just seen about 5% of CA.

Next time give us a heads' up when you're going to be in town (LA area - San Diego qualifies - as we ride anywhere). We'll show ya around...  Thumbsup

Don't take that tone with me, Missy.   Lol  It was killing me, running thru hairpins while trying to drag a knee in a Fusion.  Seriously, it was stupendous scenery, great roads and we just got back from a fine Mexican dinner featuring margaritas.

There are 3 things I really miss about living in that area (I used to live in Pismo Beach).  They are:

Kayak surfing every single night after work
Mountain biking every weekend
Motorcycling on every twisty road I could find between San Luis Opisbo and Malibu.

Not enough time, cash left after the week cruise nor enthusiasm on the wife's part yesterday.  I'd have settled for an Eaglerider.com rental.  It's 32* back home in Michigan this morning.  Thanks for the tip.  It might be a fly and ride come January.

Looks like you were on the straight roads, Dave.  I read the license Plate on the rental a couple times at least.
