I have been seriously contemplating the purchase of a Norge this spring and reading as much as I can on any issues or serious needs for upgrading. Can someone tell me more about the issues with the plastics cracking and the tabs possibly breaking off? Or point me to some info on the subject? Are some years more affected than others? Etc ....

Unless I come across a pristine LeMans, I think this is my next bike with purchase likely from Moto International.

As far I as know, the plastic is the same on all Norges from '07-'09 (I don't think any 2010's made it to North America). Apparently the plastic is significantly different (improved) on the 2011's.

I have an '09 with 21,000 miles, and the plastic is still in pretty good shape. However, some of the panels are quite thin and brittle; they could easily be cracked/ broken if not handled with care. You must remove the lower fairing panels and the chin for routine maintenance. I have snapped off a tab on two of the lower panels during this process, but everything is still holding together fairly well. Some owners permanently remove these body parts, which facilitates maintenance and reduces the likelihood of damaging the plastic. Other owners have reinforced the tabs on the panels.

In my opinion, this is a minor issue considering how much bike you can get for the money if you buy a leftover, non-current model from Moto International.

 I have a Blazing RED 07 and have no problems with my plastic panels.  Have been off and on several times.

He has offered, on several occasions, but .. when I see the look he has in his eyes for that bike, I mean how could I risk it?! Its nice he has confidence in my riding.  True, I am a very safe rider, BUT .. I think he actually has sex with that bike ! And it just wouldn't be right ...  Lol now would it ?

I rode a V11 several years ago.  An 03 and I loved it. He just beat me to the punch on the V11 and its not like I just follow the alphabet man around saying " I ll have what he's having ..."  After all he bought a Triumph after riding mine so to date we are even but it will be a hard legacy to live down if I do get a LeMans.

I agree with everything Jon said. I removed the lowers on mine and replaced them with the Breva chin spoiler. Looks good & much easier maintenance.  I'd also agree that you can't go wrong with buying from Moto International.
