December CSBA ride

HI folks,
On December 3rd we will meet for breakfast at the Starlite Diner in Fogelsville, Pa. We will then leave for a ride through the local area, we will be riding the Berks county Blitz run. It's under 100 miles so you can be home in time for supper. It also gives us some flexibility to start later in the morning in case it's cold at 8am when we usually eat breakfast. I'll say we keep it at 8am for now, but I may post up as the day gets closer and we are more certain of the weather. This will be our last ride for the year and after that until April. Although we will meet for lunch in January, February, and March. All bikes and beliefs are welcome. Post up please if you can make December's ride. I hope to see you there,

Are any of next years rides planned to start a bit further south? I ask as the current meeting spot is over 130 miles (one way) from me. Something more in the philly area would be nice.

Hey tthompsr, thanks for the kind words.
02, I do have rides that are "down south", one in April, usually going through Lancaster and Lebanon county and one in July going through Chester county into Delaware and back. I may get down to Philly area for one of our lunches this winter; January, February, and March on the first Saturday of the month. We did ride in March 'cause the weather was good, not a long ride about 50 miles. I usually post up the schedule in January for the "riding season", April to December. I usually avoid the Philly area because of congestion, but I do go to bike events in the city occasionally. I have folk coming from upstate PA and NJ, plust those from Delaware and Lancaster county. I use this location because it is centrally located and close to interstates but not in a city either. I hope we'll meet up soon,

I'd do this ride except I have a band gig in Philly that night and need to leave here around 4pm for loadin/setup. Plus, being on the bike all day and then having to stay up until 2-3am doesn't work well for me!
I'll keep my eye out for the schedule for next year!

No problem dan88z, we should be done around 2:30pm. We'll be ending the ride near Bally, Pa. I'll post up the start time closer to the 3rd when I know what the weather is going to be like. I hope to see you there,

Bally is 2 hrs from me, it's just too far to have to come home and still load up my gear, get ready, all that stuff.
Typically I avoid long rides on gig days. The ride takes a lot out of me, then the whole gig process is basically an 8 hour work day. Driving home at 2am, after the adrenaline of the show wears off, mental and physical fatigue set in, and my oldish body says "nap time". I have to avoid that kind of situation! It's scary when you realize you don't remember the last 2 miles you drove.
I will definitely keep my eye out for rides for next season's schedule, that's for sure!

No worries, Dan. Sorry you can't make it but I understand completely. I feel the same way you've described after a long ride. I am taking a recon ride on Saturday 11/19 leaving around 10-10:30am from the Starlite Diner, (on Rt 100 south of I-78). I'll PM you some personal info. Later,

I drive by this dinner all the time in the truck and load at a couple places in that area. I'm usually busy on Saturday mornings but I will have to watch for your rides next year and see if one dosen't work out. Have a fun ride. Ray

Hi Ray,
Yep, I know what you mean, I have a little guy (almost 5) that has swim lessons every Saturday. My beloved takes him the first Saturday so I can ride. We'll be having lunch Jan. Feb. and March in different locations, maybe we can meet up then? Either way stay safe out there on that long lonesome highway...
