Hi Everyone:
On August 11, 2006, Our good friends Han's & Maureen Eykelenboom lost their son Andrew Eykelenboom to a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.
Corporal Andrew "Boomer" Eykelenboom was a medic with the Canadian Forces.
Boomer’s Legacy Foundation began after Corporal Andrew Boomer Eykelenboom was killed by a suicide bomber on
August 11, 2006 in Afghanistan. Andrew was a dedicated soldier and a medic who was devoted to saving lives and
helping people. His death was the catalyst that started the Foundation, a foundation that honours the giving spirit
Boomer himself embodied. The dollars raised by Boomer’s Legacy Foundation goes into a fund that can be accessed by
Canadian soldiers wherever they are deployed. Through personal acts of kindness and compassion our soldiers are
making a positive difference in the lives of many; surgery for a young boy, a business startup to help a family, shoes for
children in an orphanage. For more information please go to:
http://www.boomerslegacy.ca/Maureen starts off this rather somber event. Since her loss she has turned into a tireless fund raiser to help carry on her son's will to help others in need. Boomer I understand was quite famous for making sure poor local Afghan mothers were equipped with basic necessities to care for their sick children.
I thought it was only right to share her work with our friends on STN.
