Alqouquin Park fall ride
«

I did this a while back obviously but I think about it quite a bit so now I gotta post. One of my memorable riding days this year was a beautifull fall day through the park, leaves at the top of thier fall colors, no traffic, listening to Tragically Hip, stopping and having my home packed lunch at a little beach spot devoid of people at....I dunno, somewhere.....it was just a definitive Canadian experience.......
I HAD pics but , alas, they are gone......but my white Hayabusa looked stunning with the brilliant foilage as the backdrop....
( It was in Bobcaygeon, that I saw the constellations, reveal themselves one star at a time.......)

Worst. Ride. Report. EVER!
Go look in the Fall Color pics thread for some from Temiscaming (just north of Algonquin).

Hmm. My wife and I did that ride Thanksgiving (the Canadian version) weekend and decided to never, EVER do it again. The normally empty road and vista points were absolutely saturated with citiots and the ride became a painful, 30kph stop and go affair. Gack.
I'm glad you had a better time than we did.

I never got the appeal of going through Algonquin. You can't really see anything from the hwy. It's not exactly scenic. Paddling through it is a different matter though.

She's from Toronto, any ride up North is better than the concrete jungle.
As for a weekend fall ride through Algonquin.....not for me. Way too many bus loads of Asian leaf-peepers and old farts pulling campers.

Which is why I went during mid-week. I never go to any of the "popular" destinations during the weekends. Never. Too many cottagers and wanna-be-racers.
It wasn't meant to be a ride report,btw.....so bite me.
I'm NOT from Toronto. Northumberland County.....look it up.
Lack of traffic lights, stop signs, intersections ect make a fairly decent ride through the park, on a quiet tourist free day,it's pleasent.

It's not worthwhile to let these guys get under your skin.
Hwy 60 is far better than the 401 if your heading east/west. So then I take it you maybe were on 35,118,28,121? Maybe even 507,620,504,503?

Speaking of....I did an all day run up through Apsley and a tic north and the roads north of C'ford were sandy even more so north of Havelock and the Apsley area had snow. Roads were visibly sandy in intersections but the more north roads had a fine layer of sand on them that definately made the bike squirmy.
Sure is nice to get out in late November though.
