Maybe our groups will end up being deployed to the same server (west coast, PVE here). Lol  We would like to do 8 man normal mode raids towards the end, but we're all pretty busy.  My hardcore raiding days are over.

That's pretty much where I plan on ending up.  Some 8 mans and not needing to be uber equipped to play.  I'm not grinding for a month to do something.  I have too many other things I enjoy doing, including getting out on the bike LOL!  Lol

You have no idea how deep the rabbit hole goes.  I'm a fairly mild gaming geek.  I love it but I try not to let it consume my life.

.......

It's a sub-sub-basement culture that is FAR below what everyone knows about mainstream, casual gaming.  It's very interesting...yet somewhat frightening.

Why, oh why, didnt I take the BLUE pill....

Just so you guys know how special you are...  If I were to use a translator to change this page into another language, it would be no more or less understandable for me than it is now.  It's very impressive.  I feel like the dork for not understanding.   Lol

Now you're talkin.  I still have an Atari 2600 in the basement w/ about a dozen games.  Smile  It's been in a box for 20 some years but still.  I remember losing several large chunks of my life playing Doom II on the computer.  I decided then that I could not be a gamer.  Frogger and Asteroids I can walk away from.   Lol

If you haven't already, visit Crabtowne USA in Glen Burnie (right off I-97).  They have a game room that's a real trip in the Wayback Machine.

You have no idea how deep the rabbit hole goes.  I'm a fairly mild gaming geek.  I love it but I try not to let it consume my life.

There are those out there that dedicate every waking moment (and relationships, friendships, jobs, sex, hygiene, etc) to gaming.  There are guilds (large groups of players) in mmo (massively multiplayer online) games who play non-stop, every day, all night, sometimes streaming their play live to the internet so others can watch it (or pay to watch it), trying to get world first kills on bosses (tough, computer controlled entities) so they can claim world bragging rights.  Some of these guilds (or players in them) have professional sponsorships.  Many of them admit that they will do/sacrifice anything to get world first boss kills.  These people fly across the country and have meetings.  Some of them are so influential in their said game that they actually have meetings with the game developers..not because they really have brilliant ideas, but because they are so powerful in the online community that they could make or break a game so the developer tries to be accommodating (EVE for example).  All of these games involve the transfer a in game currency for real currrency, probably in the hundreds of millions per year (if not a billion).

It's a sub-sub-basement culture that is FAR below what everyone knows about mainstream, casual gaming.  It's very interesting...yet somewhat frightening.

Here's the stupid scary thing.

While I knew everything you just talked about...I played WoW for maybe a month after it came out.  Sucked and couldn't stand the time sync and since never liked playing any video game.

The reason why I knew what you talked about is because my co-workers are all just one level higher than the freaks you talked about.   Lol
