Has anyone tried the BILT stuff? (Cyclegear).

I'm looking for a new pair of waterproof boots and at $79 (50% off) they seem hard to beat but given the low price I'm nervous and wanted to know if anyone had taken the "plunge" and bought these boots?

They also off a shorter pair the Typhoon for $60....

Thanks!

A friend of mine picked up a pair for a trip since he didn't have waterproof boots and rain was predicted.  They worked in the rain (moderate, but sustained rain) and were also fine as his only footwear for 4 days.  The quality was good for the price point, but the materials, construction, weren't as nice as my Alpinestars Ridge boots.  Protection (in terms of rigidity around the ankle, etc.) was about on par, keeping in mind my boots have about 50k miles on them.

I tried the boots. They are sized kind of funky. Very narrow. Your local Cycle Hear will order them for you to try on. The construction seemed ok but you DO get what you pay for.

As are most Euro sized boots I've tried except the 'Stich Sidi Combat lites. They are of a "normal" width fit and are right on the money at a Euro 42.
I have/had a couple other Euro 42 boots and they are tight and narrow.

I picked up a pair of them from CycleGear at that sale price.  Haven't been able to put any miles on them yet, hoping to do so this weekend.  If I can get a few years out of them I will be happy, especially for the price.

I tried on a Sedici jacket and the zipper seperated right in front of the sales guy!

I think Sedici is the upscale line of Bilt.  Now I am kind of leary of the whole Bilt line.

Just a tip from a confirmed gear whore/cheepskate...

When a zipper pulls apart like that, (usually) all you have to do is squish the zipperhead a little with a pair of pliers to get the zipper halves to lay in together tightly.

Threadjack over.

I just picked up a pair at CycleGear this last weekend and wore them for the first time on Wednesday - so far so good.

They seem to fit me fine and feel good when on bike and walking about but I have not rain tested them yet.

So far, for the money, it was a good purchase.

*UPDATE* - I now have about 500 miles riding time in these boots and I am liking them very well.  Not rain tested yet but still say for the money is was a good purchase.
