Folks are always wondering about the difference between different types of armor. I have written an article that compares Sas-Tec to other armor and also talks about a detailed test from Motorrad magazine (in which d3o  armor ranked 10th). Hopefully it will be of help for those who have been wondering about the benefits of Sas-Tec.

Thanks for the review.  It's scary that the BMW and D30 armor look identical but protect so differently.

Any reviews of Hiprotec?  That was supposed to be the next big thing a couple of years ago?  How about Aerostich armor?

not sure of the armor used by other companies. i do think that aero offers a backpad that looks like the Sas-Tec 1/12 for $100 as an additional option. the same pad is available in other stores for a lower price. we include it as standard with all our gear featuring Sas-Tec

cool.  Maybe consider selling the armor seperate?

I've been shopping for a backpad for a jacket that didn't come with one
