I used to have a gerbing jacket and controller. Never had a problem in the heaviest rain. I would, however, advise against swimming with it on. Lol

I made my own electric vest, and I never thought twice about wearing it in the rain... but then again its 'controller' was a waterproof on/off toggle switch and my left index finger.

the gerbing gloves have waterproof membranes and the controllers are UL listed for wet use.  didn't see any notice on the jacket.

I've been drenched many times in my Widder vest - heat controller in my pocket - with no issues.   Smile

My Widder vest has survived a couple of downpours.  However, I have a on/off switch, and not the heat troller.  The switch required some minor bubble-gum-and-chicken-wire water proofing after it's first failure in the rain.

Widder, I don't know about but Gebring is no problem in the rain in fact it says in the instruction (I think) it can get wet because the wires are shielded.

I worn my Gerbings gloves while riding in downpours to the point that they've gotten soaked through and steaming in the cold -- never had a problem with them shorting out.

I currently use a gerbing jacket liner and used an Eclipse vest for years. Both have been soaked while on and I've had no problems.

Me too.  They also remain nice and warm albeit a little squishy.

You will not get a bad response from anyone that had a bad experience because they have all been electrocuted and are dead now. Crazy

First:

A guy that I work with uses a pair of Gerbings glove when he SCUBA dives in Lake Superior!

Then:

wow... he must have the extended cord.

Which causes me to ask:

Does the bike idling for that long cause any problems?
