Hudson sentenced in road rage incident

BROOKSVILLE | The truck driver caught on camera swerving at a passing motorcycle on May 22, on a rural Bracken County road, was sentenced to prison on Thursday.

Gary L. Hudson, 23, of Pendleton County, entered a guilty plea on Nov. 18, in Bracken Circuit Court to an offer from the Commonwealth's Attorney Office.

He was sentenced Thursday to two years in jail on each of two wanton endangerment counts, 90 days in jail for menacing and a $100 fine for reckless driving. The sentences run concurrent for a total of two years, court officials said.

In the incident, caught on a camera mounted on one of two motorcycles, Hudson is seen driving a truck which enters Kentucky 22 ahead of the motorcyclists and drives in the same direction. As the lead cycle attempts to pass Hudson on the left, Hudson appeared to purposefully steer into the lane and nearly forced the motorcycle off the road. The motorcycle with the camera continued to follow until all three vehicles stopped at an intersection and a verbal altercation with threats ensued.

Hudson is in Mason County Detention Center awaiting transfer to a state prison facility.

Wow. Surprised that this hasn't gotten more attention, like the original thread did. Time to spread this to NON motorcycle specific forums. Drivers need to know, hooliganism* should not be punished by lone vigilantes nearly executing the offenders.

*their riding wasn't that bad in the video, but was probably not legal, either.

Their riding was not legal in the video - but as covered in the original threads, was no excuse for attempted murder.

Any idea what, if anything, the rider(s) were charged with?

From what I recall reading from the original threads on different boards the police were not interested in going after them. But I am not 100% sure.

What Joey said, WOW!
That boy is dumber than I originally thought, should of hired an attorney for those charges.
I think he got it worse than that politician from Wyoming (?) that killed a motorcyclist.

2 years for attempted murder does not seem like enough to me. Glad he is convicted, the sentencing is just too light.

It's getting to the point that a video cam on the bike is a necessity, if you intend to make a complaint to the police. I wonder how many SOB's would be convicted if we all used them?

BIG difference between wanton endangerment and attempted murder, so I feel the sentence is fair and just.  Keep in mind that he is now a convicted felon and will have that on his record forever.  Having that on his record, along with some prison time will mean that his future opportunities will be severely limited, especially in this rural area.  That will probably turn out to be a much harsher sentence than the jail time in the long run.  I hope that he learns his lesson and becomes a better person.

I'm amazed he got two years.  Very impressed with the judge.  I doubt he will do much jail time though.

I remember that vid and found it odd the riders had to prove they weren't speeding to garner sympathy from the non riding public.

I would have been happier if the motorcyclist had taken out a 44mag and shot the white trash scumbag, but may be I have been watching too many James/John/Clint movies.
