The text is in German, but you can sort out the weight and power easy enough. I wonder if small, sporty bikes like this would sell OK in the USA rather than putting newbs on 600cc race-reps as "beginner bikes". I bet it's huge fun on a twisty road...

I tried putting the image in, but it's huge, and I'm busy at work. Someone needs to shrink it and post it. That bike is SEXY!

Too much Au$trian pla$tic to be suitable for a newb, but very fine indeed.

Google translation if anyone is interested.
KTM RC4 690R
is the latest Evostufe from the house mototech.
is based on a standard KTM Duke 690R, which was converted into the usual precision for RC4 Superbike.
The suspension was rebuilt in the fields of geometry, suspension travel and setup for the racetrack.
The result is a 125kg lighter racers with standard 70hp, which can be increased with relatively simple tuning to 80hp ..
The kit contains RC4 IMM carbon fairing incl Ram Airsystem, tank in the rear frame, forward controls, handlebars, as well as the conversion option of the complete chassis. The entire kit can be mounted without having to edit an original part. A rear mounting is possible at any time. Seating ergonomics and geometry were taken from the KTM RC 8R. The tests at the Sachsenring with Steve Mizera and Arne death showed what a great potential in the bike! Driveability and handling is important here. A street legal kit for the RC4 is available in stock and work in early 2012. The cost of the Rennstreckenkit (without installation) lie at 4800 €. For racing, we recommend the suspension depending on the conversion claim drivers / weight etc. incl springs which is 500 €

Just to be clear, this bike isn't available from KTM, it's a custom/kit bike from mototech that is based on the 690 Duke. It would be cool if KTM took the hint and built something like this.

Cool looking pice of work, but then again you can put 22" rims and low profile tires on a truck and (to some) it looks good but it doesn't make it a performer. The 690 is not the engine I would want on an open track and by setting it up with sport bike ergos they have taken away the advantages that upright seating offers on short kart type tracks.

I'm sure it'd be just as good as any 250 on a track, if not much better. Same weight, way more torque.

67 HP stock, maybe a tad more with different intake/exhaust as pictured above.
I think it looks sexy. But on longer tracks, with long straights, it's probably going to lose out to a multi.

There's no doubt the bike will get smoked on acceleration and top speed. But think of how much fun it would be in the corners due to the uber-light weight. As Windblown notes, you could just buy the sumo version from KTM for tight tracks (like kart tracks) where the top speed is way lower. But if you want a race-rep style bike, it's a pretty cool kit.
Wasn't there a road race series being proposed based on 450 MX engines in a custom chassis? I remember seeing some prototype photos a couple years back.

Yeah, there were a few examples built, IIRC. Series never got off the ground.
Roland Sands built a couple bikes as examples.

A kit to transform a KX, oh never mind there isn't a street legal 450. I'd love to see this platform as a motard or road bike.
