Don't know why but I seem to get more of a kick watching this series than the NHL games (Cup finals excluded).
Stuck in rush hour traffic, Team Canada scores and horns all round start honkin' and fists pumping the air! It's a hoot.

I really like the points system, 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for an overtime win and 0 for any loss. I would love to see the NHL adopt this.

They did try the 3 point system for an overtime win back in the days before the shootout. In fact calgary made it into the playoffs that year just on that point factor alone. It was all because they couldn't win a regulation game, but could win an overtime game.
I don't know how that system would change things in the NHL as most dominant teams are usually many points above the others in the pack. The points race in the west is so close now, but I think you will see some spread between now & Feb.

Each game should be 3 points. 3 points if you win in regulation time, 0 for the looser. 2 points if you win in overtime, 1 for the looser. IMO this makes more sense than the 2 point - 3 point games we have in the NHL. You want the 3 points, try harder.

The NHL has never used the 3 point for a win system. It's been discussed but never implemented. From Wikipedia (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_points_for_a_win
):
In the National Hockey League in North America, a system described as "the three-point win" was proposed in 2004, with three points for a win in regulation time, two for a win in overtime, and one for a tie. This proposal was put on hold by the 2004–05 NHL lockout and subsequently rejected by team owners in February 2007.

I was able to get down and personally congratulate Team Sweden on their well deserved victory.
And I also got my hands on the game stick from Andrei Makarov before it went into the Hall of Fame.
