I plan on getting out on Thursday and riding for 2 or 3 days.  I'd like to come into WV from VA and ride in the mountains.  I know you have seen some snow and was curious if sand is an issue there yet?

Hell there was already sand on some sections during the Region 6 Campout in October.

I haven't been on the roads since late October, but traditionally the twisty mountain sections get quite dirty with cinders/sand  on them. Route 50 can be a real mess. I don't think we've had enough snow to justify huge amounts of crap on the roads, but the local ski area (Seven Springs) is expecting a few inches of snow tonight, so the WV DOT may be out spreading salt/cinders at the higher elevations.

Have fun but be careful out there!

Thanks.  I was on 50 in November and there were no issues but I know there has been some snow.  VA has seen little snow so I may be sticking here for this ride.

FWIW, I just checked the Canaan Valley weather report and they are expecting a few inches of snow tonight as well. Personally, I would stay out of the higher elevations or at least be sure of what the weather forecast is.
