Hey folks!

Saw a calendar in a store yesterday which went by the book " 1000 Places To See Before You Die"... it was supposed to be filled with pictures of the places to see. So I thought it would be cool to see if that could apply to us at S-T.net. So if you have a few favorite or picturesque places you would like to share with a pic or writeup, share it! Will be helpful to those of us that want to plan some trips!

Keep the rubber side down and safe travels in 2012...

The coast of Maine.  Absolutely beautiful.  I could go back there and spend a week doing it all over again.  The above lighthouse is the Nubble in Kittery, ME.

Couple more.  This is Thunder Hole in Acadia National Park.

South Island, New Zealand. Some amazing roads that are devoid of traffic. Or the Rohtang and Kunzum passes in the Himalayas, getting up to 13000 and 15000 feet respectively. In fact throw in that whole region for one hell of a motorcycling experience. It is a must do if you get the chance.

I've been to some of these places, but not all of them on a bike. So:

Scotland
South of France
North of Italy
Croatia
Canadian Rockies
New England up into Canada
East coast of Oz, south to north
Ireland (on its one day of summer  Bigsmile)
NW USA (again)
Beartooth Pass (again)
Lassen Volcanic NP (again)
Route 66 (just because of what it is ...)
New Zealand ... North and especially South Island
Northern Thailand

And, of course, here:

Anyone in New England will likely be familiar with Mount Washington and the Auto Road to the top.  Quite a view if you can catch it on one of the few nice days of the year.  On this day, the weather was perfect, sunny and 75 degrees.  But as it got a bit later the clouds from a front started to move in, and we watched this happen from ABOVE the clouds!  Pretty cool.  On another visit the following year with my wife riding pillion, it was also a perfect day at the base - sunny and 75.  But as we pulled up to the entrance the chalkboard said:  "Summit Weather: 35 degrees, 50 mph winds, fog, visibility 50 feet".  We suited up with everything we had and went up anyway...  At some spots the visibility was more like 10 feet and my wife was sure we were going to ride off the cliff.  But we lived to tell the story...

There are a limitless number of places to go to.  Here are a acouple of personal favourites of mine. 1 is on the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper National Parks in Alberta.  The other is on the Trans Canada Highway just north of Sault Ste Marie.

Was there in 2006 where I met fellow STN'ers for the first time.  Learned lots on that trip and had probably the best time I have ever had on 2 wheels in a group setting.

I enjoyed the "Ride to the Sky" event up Mt Washington Auto Road this past year when they don't allow cars or trucks up the mountain.
