I see BMW is bringing out a limited edition K1300S for 2012.  Basically special paint and all of the factory options on it for a reduced price compared to buying everything separately.  750 to be produced with the bike becoming available early 2012.  I'm a fan of the bike but don't care for this paint job, the stock colors look better to me.  Makes me wonder if this will be the last year for the platform.  They did something similar with the K1300GT before it was discontinued.

Price $20,255.

K 1300 S HP List of Standard Equipment:

Integral ABS (disengageable)
Gear Shift Assistant
ESA II (Electronic Suspension Adjustment)
ASC (Traction Control)
TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor)
On Board Computer
Heated Grips
Accessory Windshield
Carbon Fiber Front Fender
Carbon Fiber Air Box Cover
Carbon Fiber Clutch Cover
Carbon Fiber Pillion Seat Cover
HP Rearsets and Passenger Foot Pegs
Paddock Stand
Akrapovic Sports Silencer

I rather like the paintjob, but I'm not sure about the last year of production.  I don't think it's been the biggest seller for them, but I'd also hate to see them stop challenging the Japanese competition!

I thought the S1000RR was challenging the Japanese competition?  Perhaps there is too much of an overlap between K1300S buyers and S1000RR buyers.  Shrug

I think BMW should not have dropped the K1300GT, but they likely couldn't sell it much below the K1600GT.

I think it is, just in a different class.  The S1000RR is taking on the GSXR/ZX-10R types and the K1300S is competing with the Hayabusa/ZX-14.

I don't think that there is much overlap, I would not have considered an S1kRR, but I bought a K12S. I wanted something more flexible, not so single purpose.
