Gawd, who can believe I was able to ride the GSA today. I've never been able to ride on two wheels in January in Central Orygun before; it's always been the Ural. Even more amazing, I didn't even need the heated gear. If this is global warming, sign me up.
Weather is supposed to be in mid-50s in the early part of the week, then down to the low 40s by the weekend. I filled the GSA tank up in early Nov., stuck it on the battery tender, thinking "well, that's it until April, probably." Since then, I've ridden it so much I've had to fill the 9-gallon tank. Twice.

Even more amazing is that I've been able to ride the GSA into work the first two workdays in January.
Of course if past trends hold, early season rides almost always lead into looooong soggy wet springs. I can't tell you the times the heady days of being out on two wheels briefly in February or March is followed by a June that's one endless monsoon.

Came out of work and there was frost glistening on the saddle. Rode ever so carefully in an indicated 34F temp underneath a bright moon. The combo of potential black ice and moonlight was both magical and attention-getting.

Sunny skies. Check.
Light traffic. Check.
41deg. Check.
Dry roads. Check.
Car pool lane all to myself. Check.
Not a radar-gun wielding motorcop in sight. Check-a-doobie-doo.
The perfect morning commute.

I hear you. The Monster was chosen for one of my commutes last week. I almost never venture out on my no-wind-protection bike in Janaury.
