Looks like the Multistrada is getting a new challenger for the Pikes Peak hill climb.  Joe Kopp raced a nicely modified Speed Triple to achieve 2nd best overall time in 2011.  The video posted by Triumph North America is worth a watch.  What a hot bike.

Now that so much of the route is paved, there'll be lots more brands seen up there, I'm thinking . . .

Tasty looking scoot, for certain!

Yes the remaining 3-miles of unpaved surface are supposed to be paved by June 2012.  I expect many of the records will fall.  We shall see if, like you suggest, other brands get in on the climb.  To me it seems like an ultimate challenge for a roadbike, and I'd like to see someone try with an Aprilia V4 next year.

it will be like the mother of all Bristish Style Hillclimbs (which always struck me as a great way to entirely use up your vehicle ;-} ) . . . . . .

Last I heard there was only .7 miles that remained unpaved as of last Sept. (2011). Might even be more now - will check it out when I have a chance. Weather permitting, might be soon.
