Last February, I was in an accident that sent my 1991 ZX600 to the salvage yard.  In July, I had recovered enough physically to ride and had received insurance money for the bike, so I bought:

A 1990 PC 800.

The PC has been a good bike.  Very practical.  It has been great for commuting - lots of storage space, good mileage, easy handling with a low center of gravity.  But it lacks a certain excitement of any other bike I've ridden, even though riding still beats caging it.

I think I may have found the cure for the lack of excitement on Craigslist:

http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww300/kniepm/Linked/DSC00382.jpg

A 2000 VFR 800 with just over 15,000 miles.  This bike has been on my short list for years.  I never quite got over not winning UFO's VFR raffle.  I finally found one at good price.  It needs tires, a chain and sprockets and it's been down so its not perfect cosmetically but it seems really strong mechanically.

It's amazing the two bikes are both 800 cc Hondas - the difference is like night and day.  I can't wait to slap on tires and new chain (and STN STICKERS) and hit the road.  I am one happy guy right now just thinking about riding.

Either that's not a 2000 model or someone painted the yellow fairings red. Nice contrast of bikes.

The Y2K mirrors can be added to earlier 5th Gen bikes. I have them on my '99. Yellow was the color for 2000 (in the US) so that must be different plastic (?) but I'm not a VFR expert.

I assume the title VIN matches the VIN on the frame? I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation... In any case you'll have mucho fun - I love mine!  Thumbsup

Again, correct. I may own other bikes, but I'll never sell my VFR.  Bigok

Whatever.    I bought mine in '04 with nearly 9K on the odometer. It's now over 76K with no hint of the supposed RR problems.  Shrug

VIN and frame make it a 2000.  Title is restored salvage title.  It has been down (and when I say it was a previous owner, it's the truth -- this time) so the plastics (and tank) must have been replaced.

I'll be ordering tires this week and, hopefully, mount them over the weekend, leaving enough time to get in a little mucho fun.  The rear tire is so bad I wouldn't drive it any further than I had to to get it home.  I have started it up a couple of times of though just to listen to that motor.

I'll probably keep it as my primary commuter/grocery getter.  For the little I think I would get from selling it, I would rather use it to rack up the mundane day-to-day miles.
